CHRISTINA AGUILERA GIVES BREAKOUT PERFORMANCE IN JAIL CELL

Hollywood, CA – When she first burst onto the scene in the late 1990’s the talent of Christina Aguilera was immediately apparent. With incredible vocal range and breadth alongside beauty and charm there was absolutely no doubt that this young singer was
going to be a star. Despite lagging behind former Mickey Mouse Club co-star Britney Spears in terms of record sales, many argued that Aguilera’s talent would carry her much further in the long term and establish her as one of the great voices in the history of pop music.
Something changed along the way, that was undeniable. While Spears soared on the pop charts Aguilera went in a different, much more controversial direction. While some praised her eschewing of traditional pop standards it alienated a great deal of her potential audience and put her a distant second behind Spears, and then things changed again. While Spears spiralled into erratic behaviour, Aguilera stepped away from the spotlight entirely, focussing instead on starting a family and generating relatively limited amounts of material. Recently however both stars have been on the upswing, trying to recapture the success of 
their youth, something treacherous and challenging for both. For Spears it is an issue
of mental stability, but for Aguilera, whose last album sank, who has recently been divorced, and who flubbed the national anthem at the Super Bowl, the issues may be far greater. Still, Aguilera apparently still has the vocal gymnastic skills to be a success which she proved after singing her heart out in the drunk tank in West Hollywood last night.
“We see celebrities in here every now and so it really isn’t that big a deal. Some of them are regulars to be honest, we actually share pictures of our kids and stuff. Aguilera was no different in that respect,” said a police insider. “That said, the place was really loud last night. She was singing like crazy and it was great, way better than the Super Bowl. She still has it, she proved that to us last night.”
Aguilera was arrested on a charge of public intoxication but will not be prosecuted. Her boyfriend Matthew Rutler was charged with DUI.
“This is certainly not the kind of incident that one would have expected from Aguilera, that’s for sure. She has always been the relatively stable member of that pop pairing over the years and I doubt that anyone would have expected to see her dragged away to jail, but life surprises you sometimes,” said Scrape TV Entertainment analyst Tracey Temple. “I doubt that this is the start of a Britney-like decline to be honest, though you never know. What it does show is that these little incidents we have had with her, the album flop, the anthem fiasco, that these things aren’t indicative of a loss of talent and that is a good thing. She has a remarkable voice and it would be a shame to lose that.”
Many critics lambasted her latest album, ‘Bionic’ for the relatively limited vocal range she displayed.
“I hope this doesn’t mean that she has to be drunk in order to really sing anymore. That would only end up going badly, I mean relatively badly. I suppose if no one is really interested in hearing her sing anymore she would be able to cut back on the booze but still,” continued Temple. “While this incident is certainly going to be an embarrassing one it does at least show that she still has the magic and if nothing else, that is a great thing. Hopefully it wasn’t just the acoustics of the cell.”
Aguilera reportedly celebrated her freedom with a couple of drinks.
