JOHN WALSH STARTS TO HUNT DOWN POLO BALLS, CRISTAL
April 28 2011
Miami, FL – When it premiered in 1988, ‘America’s Most Wanted’ was a hit right away. Four days after it was first broadcast, the show aided in the capture of its first criminal. When the show went nationwide only a few weeks later, it became a bona fide

hit for the fledgling Fox network, one of a handful of early successes for that channel. At its height the show was catching criminals regularly, some even before the final credits had rolled, making the show not only a popular success but also a boon to law enforcement.
Of course, most people never participated in the capture of any criminal, and fewer still watched the show in anticipation of doing so. The program was then as it is now, a kind of voyeurism into the lives of real life criminals, and stories of criminals have fascinated audiences for centuries. At the heart of the show though was the capturing of criminals as evidenced by the experience of the host, John Walsh, who himself was the victim one of the worst crimes imaginable. His earnestness sold the series, made it a hit, and in the process made the man himself into star. For many, Walsh was the ultimate example of a person making the best of a bad situation and a crusader for victims and victim’s rights. Now Walsh, still the host of that show, has finally begun to indulge his well-earned success turning from seeking arch criminals to hunting down polo balls and bottles of Cristal.
“It's like a street fight out there. I think you have to have the power and the passion. It is a high adrenaline sport. It is exciting and it is somewhat dangerous. Of course I’m up for that kind of thing,” said Walsh on the white sand beaches of Miami. “For
the last thirty years all I’ve been is a fighter and this situation is no different. I fight this battle just as I fight every battle I’ve ever had to wage in my life.”
Walsh, an avid polo player, was invited to the event in an effort to raise to profile of the sport just as he has done with so many criminals.
“We are very excited to have John here. He is a very strong player and a great spokesperson for our sport. With his help, we hope that we will be able to bring polo closer to people’s homes, closer to the hearts and passion of the American public,” said a spokesperson for the event. “John has always shown great passion for the things he supports and this is no different. He has brought to this event the same type of vigour with which he has invested in the capture of these dastardly criminals he has battled all these years. We are most honoured indeed that he raced us with his presence.”
Afterwards, the group retired to an undisclosed location where they battled their digestion with Cristal and caviar.
“Personally, I didn’t even realize that that show was still on the air. I thought it had
been cancelled years ago, something which would seem sensible if it acted solely as a crime prevention tool. The internet is much better at that than any television show,” said Scrape TV Crime analyst Willard Weston. “However as a type of entertainment and as a recruitment tool for future crime fighters it has done quite well, obviously quite well. There are few law enforcement officials who do quite this well. Walsh though has helped so many people, he has earned his semi-retirement and hopefully he will put forward the same kind of effort towards driving polo into people’s homes as he has done with tracking down criminals.”
Currently on hiatus from the show, Walsh has also been recently spotted on High Street in London, and being fitted at Cartier headquarters in Paris.
