MARRIAGE RECORD IN REACH FOR LARRY KING AFTER DEATH OF ELIZABETH TAYLOR

Hollywood, CA – There is little doubt, little debating, that Hollywood was a much more glamorous place in the past. Not buoyed down by celebrity gossip, insta-celebs, or even the harsh realities of the real lives of the beloved screen stars lived, that was
an era when all Hollywood represented was dreams. Movies changed though and with them so too did the nature of celebrity and the stars. The glitz and glamour removed, stars became people rather than Kings and Queens, and an era slowly died out.
Some remnants of that era persisted and one person in particular, perhaps the most glamorous of all those stars, reminded us of a time long past, a time never to be recovered. That person was of course Elizabeth Taylor whose sixty year career spanned from the golden age of film to the gossip age and served as a reminder of that long gone era. While certainly no saint, Taylor somehow managed to maintain her star status in the face of all challenges and even in the last years of her life, through declining health and personal issues, Taylor somehow managed to retain her glamorous appeal. Now that last holdover from those glory days has passed on, taking with her a long gone era and leaving new opportunities for those who would try to emulate her including Larry King who now has an unimpeded shot at the most Hollywood marriages.
“We will always be inspired by her enduring contribution to our world. My mother was an extraordinary woman who lived life to the fullest, with great passion, humour, and love. Though her loss is devastating to those of us who held her so close and so dear, we will always be inspired by her enduring contribution to our world,” said son Michael Wilding in a statement. “Her remarkable body of work in film, her ongoing success as a businesswoman, and her brave and relentless advocacy in the fight against HIV/AIDS, all make us all incredibly proud of what she accomplished. We know, quite simply, that the world is a better place for Mum having lived in it. Her legacy will never fade, her spirit will always be with us, and her love will live forever in our hearts.”
Taylor was 79. She had been hospitalized last month for monitoring for an ongoing heart condition.
“This is a great loss for all of Hollywood. She was the grand old lady of the golden age and she deserves every ounce of tribute she is receiving. There was never a star like Elizabeth Taylor before and there won’t be one like her again,” said a spokesperson for Larry King. “Larry and Dame Taylor were good friends and he feels her loss very deeply. However he buoyed by the love he had for her and the opportunity that he now has to finally win that bet the two of them had and he plans on doing what he can to get that one final marriage under his belt.”
Both King and Taylor were married eight times. King is currently married but has had troubles in recent years.
“It was kind of a private thing between them, a gentlemen’s bet of sort. Dame Taylor apparently had a few people on the hook but it was really the game that interested her rather than the win, and I think that’s true of Larry as well,” continued the spokesperson. “Now though it’s well within his reach if he wants it. He had tried to be the gentleman when she was alive and may continue to do so now that she is gone, but maybe in an abstract way finally winning the bet, getting divorced and married one more time, is exactly the kind of tribute Elizabeth Taylor deserves.”
King filed for divorce from current wife Shawn Southwick last year before deciding not to proceed with the action.
