MARVEL MAY CONTINUE WITH SUPERHERO MOVIES

May 6 2011

Hollywood, CA – The creation of any artistic project is frequently fraught with turmoil and stress. Whether it is a painting from an elementary school project or the writing of one of the great novels of western literature, often the creation and bad painting
eventual realization of the project doesn’t go quite the way the creator envisioned it initially. Sometimes it works out better than the original vision, but more often than not the projects stutter and fail even if they finally see their way to completion. That is just one the harsh realities of the creative process.

Most of those works are fortunately not foisted upon the public, instead they are left to wither and die on the vine. Some projects however are very much the centre of attention and anticipation from the public, yet despite the hard work of talented and accomplished artists still manage to misfire at a fundamental level, embarrassing everyone involved and damaging future plans. Sometimes those projects are simply mainstream projects, works that no one has any great deal of passion about outside bean counters, but when dream projects fizzle, the disappointment is often tangible and painful for everyone involved. Luckily, such a fate does not appear to have affected two upcoming movies, both long lusted after dream projects that producers believe came together beautifully, providing them with the confidence to move ahead with sequels and fully realize their artistic vision for their superheroes.thor movie poster

“X-Men was the dawn of the new Marvel cinematic age Iron Man was the dawn of the Marvel Studios age and the establishment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the
beginning of that continuity. The Avengers is the next big step. Once all these characters come together, it's the culmination of all that has come before,” said Marvel studios Chief Kevin Feige. “It launches a new era and a new time in the history of our films. Not only will it be the first film that our new home studio, Disney, will be distributing, but it will also renew each of these characters and launch them into their own franchises, starting with the second film to be released by Disney, Iron Man 3.”

Feige also spoke briefly of his hope that other superhero characters would eventually see their way onto the silver screen, eventually.

“Few people have seen these movies and ultimately, whether we like it or not, that reaction is the most important one. The reaction of the people will decide the future of these projects and where they go creatively,” said Scrape TV Entertainment analyst Tracey Temple. “It’s the money that really speaks with these types of projects because there is so much invested. This is the eternal struggle between artists and business men, something that will likely never fully satisfy both sides. It’s unfortunate too, because that all too often results in the loss of valuable and even important artistic projects.”hugh jackman

Both ‘Thor’ and ‘Captain America’ have been in development for decades and will finally see release this year.

“We won’t really know how these projects have turned out until we see them of course, but the confidence of the artists behind them is certainly a positive sign. I mean some of that may be a result of hubris or even just trying to make the best of a bad situation, but hopefully that isn’t the case,” continued Temple. “As amusing as it is to see people fall flat on their face on occasion, no one who is a serious fan of film wants to see potentially great art fail. Hopefully these two movies work, and from there we will hopefully see their grand vision for things. Hopefully this will be one of the few times in movies when art is truly able to shine through.”

The first of the movies to be released is ‘Thor’ which hits screens next month.
