MENA SUVARI READY AND WILLING TO WORK AGAIN

February 26 2011

Los Angeles, CA – There are people who spend their entire lives looking for a break, who spend decades trying to make their dreams happen only to be faced with obstacle after obstacle along the way. Often those efforts are half-hearted, day i have a dream
dreams that people mistake for real effort, for those rare few who actually get up every day and chase their dreams and are beaten down again and again eventually, hopefully, the effort and dedication will eventually pay off with some version of that vision.

For others dreams take off quickly and burn out just as fast, people who are able to achieve a great deal of success at a young age but then quickly find themselves lost in the wilds. Such stories are certainly common in Hollywood which has satisfied, crushed, and teased the realization of dreams to thousands of hopefuls over and over again. The town itself has been built on such fates with more than a few being trampled permanently. Such a fate did not appear to be in the cards for a handful of actors in the late 1990’s who quickly became celebrities with a series of successful films. Though never the biggest name, with roles in ‘American Pie’ and Oscar winner ‘American Beauty’, Mena Suvari seemed primed to escape the dregs of Tinsel Town. Alas, that did not happen and that promising career quickly fell away after a decision by Suvari to go into semi-retirement in TV movies and other low profile works. Now though, Suvari is back and putting Hollywood on notice.mena suvari premiere

“I made a decision a long time ago to step away from the industry, or at least the path that everyone expected me to travel. I did this with a heavy heart and against the advice of just about everyone around me but I don’t regret that choice, not one bit,” said Suvari. “Every now and then I took parts in bigger films but that was usually because of the people involved, people like Queen Latifah and Jimmy Fallon, not out of any lust for stardom. I decided to leave that world.”

Suvari’s last prominent role in a major movie was in 2001’s ‘American Pie 2’.american pie

“I love doing bit parts on TV shows and I can tell you honestly that there is no better satisfaction than going to a Blockbuster and seeing a movie that you just shot weeks before sitting on the shelves. So many of these big movies take a long time to make, sometimes years, but I’ve been able to interact with the audience almost immediately,” continued Suvari. “I made that decision years ago and it was the right choice for me and my life as an artist and now I am making a different decision. I have told my agents to start sending me scripts, to start the water flowing again and let everyone in Hollywood know that I am ready and willing to work in major films again. Bring it on.”

Suvari’s next film ‘Restitution’ co-stars C. Thomas Howell and Tom Arnold.mena suvari cute

“Resurrecting a career is a tough thing, particularly when you weren’t all that big to begin with. Keep in mind that the bulk of the audience that loved ‘American Pie’ when it came out are now adults with families who simply don’t watch as many movies as they did when they were younger and that limits the audience. She wasn’t the star of that film and she isn’t Tara Reid and so there are limits to fandom,” said Scrape TV Entertainment analyst Tracey Temple. “However she could try to rebuild things, to start fresh as though she were a new actor. The other concern would of course be that she has rejected Hollywood for so long and that could damage her relationships with the powers that run the town. I think it’s going to be a tough road for her to travel but at least she’s started down it, and I think Hollywood will be paying attention.”

Fellow ‘Pie’ co-star Shannon Elizabeth also recently made herself available for new roles. That declaration appears to have had no impact.
