BEYONCE, MARIAH THROW SUPPORT BEHIND EMBATTLED GADDAFI FAMILY

Los Angeles, CA – Getting support from big stars never hurts in politics. With a few exceptions, say Oprah Winfrey, the measurable benefit of celebrity support is a little vague, but rarely has a politician of any colour rejected association with glamorous celebrities.
Some of that is certainly sought after, but sometimes celebrities show their true political passions by pursuing politicians themselves, something very much on display as major stars start to show their support for embattled Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi in his time of need.
Music stars Usher, Beyonce, and Mariah Carey are among the major names supporting Gaddafi and his family, all stars who have benefited from the regime at one time or another. While it’s unclear, given the mess on the ground in Tripoli, what effect the support will have on the future of the family, it appears likely that at least the family will somewhere to go if they are eventually pushed from power.
“Beyonce in particular has a great deal of compassion and affection for the Gaddafi’s. She has had a long association with the family and though she hasn’t met Muammar personally, his sons have always spoken highly of him. She is very much behind the 
family,” said a Hollywood insider. “Equally, Usher and Mariah Carey have decided to support the family. I hear that Carey has even offered Muammar a place to stay if he decides to leave. That shows how deeply these stars feel about the situation.”
Gaddafi is believed to be in hiding in Tripoli and it is not clear if the stars have been able to communicate with him as yet.
“Some celebrities, like Nelly Furtado, who have had an association with the family in the past have decided to just stay out of it. Luckily for Gaddafi they aren’t really stars anymore and would probably have trouble doing much for him anyway,” continued the insider. “He’s still got the big names and that is going to mean a lot as things get worse in the country. Heck, just having Beyonce would be enough. I bet he’s really glad he helped bankroll them in the early days.”
Beyonce’s people are reportedly trying to gather enough celebrities to record a benefit single. Beyonce herself is likely sleeping or having her hair done.
“It may be too late for anyone to help Gaddafi at this point but at least if he knows he has somewhere to go, that he has some support outside his immediate circle, that might prevent him from taking the kind of drastic action everyone is expecting. That alone makes this support laudable. No one wants to see him get hurt after all,” said Scrape TV International analyst Gustav Hander. “Hopefully this all works out well for everyone, for Gaddafi, for Beyonce, and for everyone else involved in the situation. There is no reason at this point why things need to go badly. I’m sure if they make an effort everything can work out well.”
Lionel Richie, another long-time supporter of Gaddafi, is reportedly in Tripoli performing for both rebels and loyalists alike.
