EUROPE MAY CLOSE DOWN IF ECONOMIC CRISIS CAN’T BE RESOLVED

September 15 2011

Brussels, Belgium – It has been a noble effort, the European Union, but it may all be coming to an end. The historical effort to bring together so many nations that spent so many years butchering each other is facing its worst crisis yet as economic woes continues to threaten the fragile relationship.europe map

In particular, it is the potential default of a number of countries, Greece being the biggest culprit, which may cause a disintegration of the union and plunge the continent into an economic spiral. Those economic woes, mixed with inattentiveness by some parties and rumours of infidelity by countries such as Italy, has forced a wedge that may result in a disaster for the once promising union.

“Europe is in danger. If the eurozone breaks up, the European Union will not be able to survive,” said Polish Finance Minister Jacek Rostowski.

“This is a fight for the economic and political future of Europe. This is the most serious challenge of a generation,” echoed EU president Jose Manuel Barroso.

Similar sentiments have been voiced by other European leaders, as well as political and economic powers around the world. It’s not yet clear what proposals will be made to better the situation, if anyone is even motivated to change at this stage.angela merkel angry

“Much of the issues do revolve around Greece and the concerns there, but it is remarkable to note how quickly the rest of the group is willing to split off when that became an issue. It appears that only France and Germany are making any real effort to resolve the Greek crisis and everyone else is really just thinking about themselves, and that is never a good thing. Everyone has to be involved, but none of them seem willing to do that,” said Scrape TV European analyst Gillian Weismann. “That is really the sad part. You see all these countries sneaking off into their own little corners, doing their own thing as soon as things became challenging. Unless that changes, the Euro could very well end very soon.”

Italy has reportedly been courting China in recent days, a possible sign of things to come.silvio berlusconi

“Without the Euro there is very little to keep things together. Like it or not, economic concerns are always going to be the major part of any relationship and when that starts to break apart, the whole things tends to break down. If the Euro fails, so too will the rest of the union,” continued Weismann. “This speaks the difficulties in establishing this type of plural relationship. It’s hard enough to make relationships of these types work between just two nations, but in a large group like this inevitably someone is going to be ignored, or not get what they feel they are supposed to get, or all kinds of other problems. It’s really sad but it does appear that it is coming to an end sooner rather than later.”

It’s not yet clear if any of the involved parties have discussed who will get what in any potential split, but that conversation may happen soon.
