GADDAFI STAYING IN COUNTRY AS HOME UNDERGOES MASSIVE RENOVATION
August 23 2011
Tripoli, Libya – It has been days since he has been seen or heard from, but it appears that Muammar Gaddafi is alive and well and still conducting business in Libya even as rebels move throughout the capital city.
“I am alive and healthy, I am in Tripoli and do not intend to leave Libya. Do not believe the lying reports by Western television companies. I want to express thanks to everyone in the world who feels for the people of Libya. I am sure that we will be victorious,” said Gaddafi from Tripoli.
Gaddafi is reportedly somewhere in Tripoli with his family while his home is in the midst of being renovated.
“He seemed well and happy. He seemed like a man content in things and that is what we have come to expect from Gaddafi,” said a witness to the interview. “He seems to realize that things have gotten a little hectic in Tripoli in recent days but he seems confident that they will calm down. Right now he is primarily concerned with the work that is being done on his personal compound. The planning has been going on for a long time and he wants to make sure that none of this unrest causes any problems for the workers.”
Rebels had apparently infiltrated the compound and caused a great deal of trouble for contractors in their search for the Colonel Gaddafi.
“He moved from that home a number of weeks ago and he wants the rebels to just leave it alone. He has paid a great deal of money into this renovation already and even participated in the design and he wants to make sure that they don’t interfere with the work,” continued the witness. “They are living in cramped quarters right now and they are eager to move back home and so they ask that rebels please leave the home alone. There is only so much they are able to take living so close together.”
Recently another son, Mohammad, joined the family at the temporary home. Saif is reportedly on his way to stay with them as well, making the surroundings even more cramped.
“I can tell you from personal experience that the worst part of any major home
renovation is the waiting around. You see the progress and you already know what things are going to look like but you have to wait for so long and usually in some cramped, temporary housing. It’s really quite irritating for home owners,” said Scrape TV Real Estate analyst Ann Lewis. “It has to be even more difficult for Gaddafi considering the instability of his job, the unrest in the country, and the international warrants. That just has to add to the stress of the situation and make things really uncomfortable for him. Hopefully for his sake the rebels didn’t cause any serious damage or delays because that is the last thing any home owner wants to hear.”
Gaddafi had hoped to move back home in early October. It’s not clear if that schedule is still viable.
