NORWEGIAN PRIME MINISTER REALLY GLAD SHE DIDN’T GO CAMPING LAST WEEK
July 26 2011
Oslo, Norway – It may take a long, long time for the people of Norway to get over the mass killings which occurred last Friday. The attacks, the worst on Norwegian soil since the end of World War II, killed more than seventy people both in the capital and

on a small island outside the city. Norway has had worse of course, but still the shock and grief that has taken over the most peaceful people of that Scandinavian nation will take a long time to heal.
The people most affected are of course the ones most likely to take a long time to recover from those events. The loss of their loved ones is only amplified by the massive scale of the tragedy, as it often is in such situations. Even as the nation as a whole mourns the loss, the potency of the tragedy for the people directly involved is something from which they may never recover, both the people who lost relatives and friends, and those who narrowly escaped death themselves. Most prominent among those is Prime Minister Gro Harlem Brundtland whose offices were attacked and who had been planning a camping vacation only days before the assault. Luckily, work got in the way, locking the PM secure in her office, never happier that a vacation had to be cancelled.
“The Prime Minister is of course in as much grief as the rest of the nation. This is a totally unprecedented event that really goes beyond anything one could ever imagine
could even happen. It is a nightmare which the country will be dealing with for a very long time and the Prime Ministers is right there with the rest of the nation,” said a government spokesperson. “Yes, we can confirm that the suspect has cited her as his principal target and that is of course very frightening. The Prime Minister does not want to make this about her personal investment in these events but she is very glad she stayed home last week.”
The PM had been planning a summer vacation for weeks but it was cancelled just days before she was due to leave a little more than a week ago.
“There are always these types of things which come up with being Prime Minister, last minute things. These are things which are just part of the job and part of the life. She was very disappointed with not being able to take her trip but this is part of the responsibilities she has taken on as Prime Minister,” continued the spokesperson. “She will eventually take that vacation but now is not the right time. Aside from the national mourning, she is feeling a little insecure. It is possible that even if there aren’t more cohorts of this individual, that there could be copycats who would potentially disrupt her vacation time. Once things calm down she will take the trip.”
Bruntland is apparently planning to avoid the island of Utoya where most of the killings occurred, citing lack of privacy.
“Like all major tragedies this will eventually fade into memory. It will be an event people will speak about for years, tells stories of, but it will eventually just fuse into the national consciousness and became a part of pastiche. It happens with all tragedies,” said Scrape TV Mass Murder analyst Drake Webber. “For now it is going to be enormously disruptive but eventually that time will pass and people will go on with their normal lives. It is sad to hear that the Prime Minister has had to cancel her vacation plans but that is part of the responsibility and burden of being the leader. After all this though, I’m sure she will really enjoy her time off.”
Bruntland is apparently shooting for the middle of September for her new vacation, circumstances allowing of course.
