SIR DAVID ATTENBOROUGH CLEARED IN 1879 MURDER CASE
July 7 2011
London, U.K. – The murder mystery has always been a compelling story. Stripped of all the raw emotion and pain associated with the death of a loved one or a real person, the mystery of the murder always makes for a compelling tale. Whether it’s the tales

of Sherlock Holmes, Agatha Christie, the tales of C.S.I. or even real life mysteries like Jack the Ripper, O.J. Simpson, or Caylee Anthony, tales of death have always made for some of the most compelling stories, as long as there is some kind of mystery involved.
Most people, thankfully, never experience such tales in their own lives. No one wants to be a part of a real life murder tale, though are more than willing to watch as other people suffer through such tales. That, in part, explains a lot about the fascination many people have when it comes to murders that occur with already established celebrities. The mystery, the wealth, the fame, the fall from grace, all factors that contribute to a great story, a story that respected British TV personality Sir David Attenborough has found himself in the middle of for the last few months after a skull was found in his backyard. Now police have finally come to a conclusion regarding the murder and determined the Attenborough was not involved with the killing, providing a great deal of comfort to the presenter and his friends and family.
“This is a fascinating case and a good example of how good old-fashioned detective work, historical records and technological advances came together to solve the Barnes
mystery,” said police Chief Superintendent Clive Chalk. “We are very pleased that we have come to a conclusion on this tale. Sir David has been very helpful and very forthcoming and we are very pleased to announce that he had nothing to do with the killing which occurred when he was still a young man. This was a classic murder mystery. The case is now closed.”
The killing of Julia Martha Thomas was attributed to a live-in maid, Katherine Webster, in 1879. Attenborough was apparently not able to provide an alibi but was cleared nonetheless.
“It is a great relief that this case has been concluded. It was very disturbing, as one can imagine, to have found these remains on his property and then to become a subject of the investigation. However Sir David is thankful for the patience and good detective work conducting by the police services and has more respect for them than he already had,” said a spokesperson for Attenborough. “We are all very pleased that this tale has been concluded and that the guilty party has been correctly identified. Unfortunately she has since passed on and so no punishment can be had, but at the very least the descendants of Mrs. Thomas can have some type of peace in this resolution.”
The remains were found in October of last year and were discovered in the process of cultivating the land for a garden.
“I’m sure it’s a great for Attenborough and his entire family to have this case concluded. After all, he is widely respected and to be implicated in such a dastardly crime would have been very hurtful, particularly at such an advanced age. Thankfully he is free and clear of the charges now,” said Scrape TV British analyst Nigel Northington. “Realistically, no one but the people involved can ever truly know what happened. I for one am glad that he has been cleared of these charges, even if he was involved. He has spent a great deal of his life making the world a better place and so even if he was involved in this killing all those years ago, well, he should be allowed to get away with it. After all, who really misses her?”
Attenborough claimed he was travelling in Asia at the time of the killing, though that was never confirmed.
