ENGLISH TOWN BEING STALKED BY MASSIVE BIRDS OF PREY

October 11 2011

Devon, U.K. – Occasionally nature finds a way into human society. Usually it does so in the form of massive storms or earthquakes, but as the people of Devon are finding out the hard way it can also do so with some it’s other creations, in this case the influx of six foot owls.eagle owl angry

Residents in the town were stunned to see one of the massive birds, an eagle owl, flying around their city picking off dogs and cats. City officials have warned residents to stay indoors while the bird is around, to secure pets, and to prevent children from playing outside in order to avoid the bird. Eagle Owls have been known to attack prey as large as roe deer.

Thus far, the city has only seen one of the birds but officials are concerned that its arrival could be a sign of things to come for the bird that normally on inhabits Eastern Europe and Asia, that this could herald the arrival of a new predatory creature into the normally placid English countryside for good.

“We are urging people in the city and throughout the region to stay indoors as much as possible. We will do our best to track down this bird and take it into custody if possible, but it is a dangerous and aggressive animal and we would still like people to take precautions,” said a city spokesperson. “We have requested aid from other countries, advice on how to deal with this bird which from what we have read is eagle owl eating
exceptionally large. We do have experts coming in from other countries to aid us in tracking down the bird but until we are able to terminate this bird from our skies.”

Some reports have pegged the size of the bird at more than ten feet tall, but pictures show it to be much smaller. At least three small dogs have gone missing in recent weeks but it’s not yet clear if they were victims of the owl.

“There is absolutely no need for panic, but there is need for caution and that is what we are urging in people. Sensible caution, the type of caution one would expect should there be any type of aerial predator in the skies above. This owl will not attack your car or your home or your place of work so you will be safe in those areas,” continued the spokesperson. “We have no indications yet that this is a part of a change in the migration of these birds, that this is anything but a lone animal. If that changes we will of course inform the public but again there is no indication that that is or even might be the case and we will deal with that should it happen.”

Eagle Owls are extremely rare in England, suggesting that the bird either became lost or is acting as an advance scout for other members of the species. The country is not believed to be well-equipped to deal with an influx of the birds.puppy

“These are particularly nasty birds. They are big and aggressive and will feed on just about anything they feel they can take, usually things smaller than it. At six feet, there are lots of things smaller than this particular bird and that should be a concern,” said Scrape TV Zoology analyst Cambridge Walker. “Normally they aren’t this big and if some new super species has developed and moved into England the people of that country should be concerned, especially if they move in great numbers. Eventually they would be able to deal with it but the loss of life in the interim could be huge and that would be too bad.”

Two cars have also gone missing in the city since the appearance of the owl but that is believed to be the result of thieves and not the animal.
