EUROPE BECOMING ONE BIG GENOCIDE HAPPY FAMILY
December 24 2011
Ankara, Turkey – There are some words that have more power than others, generally because of what they are associated with. The meaning behind those words causes the expression itself to have significant potency, damaging, hurtful, and terrifying, sometimes having more power than the events behind it have.
Cancer is one of those words, so is rape, and, arguably the worst of the bunch, so is genocide. There is perhaps no word in any language that has more power than that one, simple word. It evokes a type of aggression against other humans that is beyond words, an evil that few people can even articulate and when it is hurled around, people tend to get a little upset.
That is no doubt the principle reason that Turkey has for decades denied the reality, the facts, of the Armenian genocide. That series of events has been, through extensive research and study, proven to be a genocide through and through but government after government in the country has denied it ever happened. Now
France, one of the few countries to really challenge Turkey on the events, has stepped up and made it clear where they stand, making it a criminal offence to deny the events. Now Turkey has lashed back at France, accusing them of their own genocide against Algerians and making it clear that Europe is just one big genocide happy continent.
“What the French did in Algeria was genocide. They were mercilessly martyred. If Mr Sarkozy doesn't know there was a genocide, he can ask his father, Pal Sarkozy … who was a legionnaire in Algeria in the 1940s. I'm sure he has a lot to tell his son about the massacres committed by the French in Algeria,” said Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
About 15 percent of the population of Algeria was killed during the legionnaire era but because the killings were indiscriminate, they do not fall under the traditional banner of Genocide, just general mass murder.
The French had not officially responded but aside from the accusations, Turkey has cut off diplomatic relations with France.
Turkey has acknowledged killing millions of Armenians during the period but has routinely denied that it was genocide, much like the French.
“There are very clear definitions of genocide and frankly, the Armenian issue fits those descriptions. The targeting of a specific ethnic group and trying to eliminate them is genocide, just killing a bunch of people is not. Hitler attempted genocide, Pol Pot just killed a bunch of folks. There is a major difference because of intent,” said Scrape TV International analyst Gustav Hander. “Not being genocide doesn’t really justify killing all those people. I mean killing millions is still a bad thing no matter which way you look at it, but the definition is different. What the Turks did was evil, what the French did was just really bad. Regardless, it’s pretty clear that the French have their own issues to deal with and perhaps by admitting what they did both sides can come together as one, big murderous and genocide happy continent. At this stage just about every country in Europe has some kind of mass murder and they certainly need something to bring them together again. They need unity and they have always united with mass killings in the past.”
Bosnia and Germany have both stayed out of the debate for now.
