IRAN PLAYING THE TOUGH GUY IN CLOSURE OF ESSENTIAL STRAIT

December 13 2011

Tehran, Iran – Tensions in Iran are possibly higher than they ever have been. That’s no mean feat considering the level of tension that has existed in the country and throughout the region for the last few decades. With nuclear programs aplenty and threats of war from just about everyone, Iran is certainly in a stressed and unenviable position in the world.  manny ahmadinejead

For the most part the nation has remained quiet. Occasionally they have lashed out against the west or the Zionist devils, rhetoric all too common in that country, but actual action has been largely lacking. That seemed to all change last week when the country captured a U.S. spy drone, and refused to give it back, which seems to have prompted an all new philosophy from the regime.

The latest salvo in that new attitude  appears to be a test blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, a thin strip of water that just happens to be the most important transit channel for oil transport in the world. While just a test, it may prove a trying event for western powers, and clear evidence that despite their relative docility, the Iranian government may in fact be willing to act militarily after all this time.

“Soon we will hold a military maneuver on how to close the Strait of Hormuz. If the world wants to make the region insecure, we will make the world insecure,” said one legislator.iran navy boats

Traditionally Iran has said lots of nasty things about a lot of different countries but has rarely stepped forward and taken action, something which appears to have changed.

“This is not like grabbing hikers. Closing this Strait will have a serious impact on the oil supply, both for West and for Iran itself. They are just testing of course, but it is also a bit of a warning to the west, showing them what Iran is capable of should they all decide to go to war,” said Scrape TV International analyst Gustav Hander. “I mean it’s something the West has known about for a long time, even expected it, but to actually see Iran stepping up and showing that they are willing to do it, well that’s a different thing. A kid may know how to ride a bicycle by himself but until he actually does it, well that’s when that sense of pride comes up. That’s when things really start to change.”

Iran has already moved dozens of tugboats into the region, not wanting to waste fuel on larger ships because of the likely increase in fuel costs once they block the Strait.iran boat

“The danger here, in blocking the Strait, is that the West won’t like it and it could move them closer to war. I mean things are razor thin right now and this is exactly the kind of thing that could push it over the edge. Well this or nuclear weapons. Yeah, nuclear weapons would probably be worse,” continued Hander. “Of course the threat here, the big threat, is that they could nuke the Strait. That’s an unlikely scenario but Iran is probably full of unlikely scenarios and no one wants something like that to happen. Especially the way they’ve been acting the last few days, I mean you just never know how they are going to act anymore. Crazy.”

Iran has strongly denied being crazy, and making nuclear bombs, and closing the Strait.
