POOR ELECTION RESULTS MAY PROMPT PUTIN TO DO AWAY WITH DEMOCRACY ENTIRELY
December 4 2011
Moscow, Russia – The votes are in, and they aren’t very encouraging. Just four years ago Vladimir Putin’s United Russia part totally dominated politics in that country. They held a two-thirds majority in the Parliament and had firm control in the executive

branch. Not anymore. The latest election results have shown exactly what pundits have been predicting, a decline, resulting in less than half seats in parliament.
That result is certainly not good news for Putin who, next year, plans to run again for President of the country. The diminishing support in the parliament will surely translate to Putin himself and, though he will likely hold onto power, his level of influence will be significantly diminished.
That is not the type of situation into which Putin wanted to inject himself, no doubt, and it may prompt him to finally do away with the voting process entirely, a procedure that would allow him to do exactly what it is he sees fit for the good of Mother Russia.
“Russia has a new political reality even if they rewrite everything,” said Sergei Obukhov of the Communist Party. He is widely expected to disappear in the new Russia, alongside many of his fellow party members.
That party nearly doubled their votes from the last election, making them a significant player in the country.
United Russia is not expected to break the 50 percent barrier, something once unthinkable for the party which has ruled the country since its breakup.
“This is a very dangerous time for the leadership in Russia and they very clearly realize that. Putin may be a lot of things but dumb is not one of them. He realizes that the tide is starting to change against him and his party and that if they don’t change, they will eventually be pushed out,” said Scrape TV International analyst Gustav Hander. “Changing the minds of Russians, though, can be a tough thing and so the best solution is the one they appear to be moving towards, which is just doing away with democracy entirely. It really hasn’t done much for Russians anyway so very little will have been lost, ultimately.”
The elimination of the democratic process would likely take place after Putin takes charge next year, to avoid having to eliminate current President Dmitry Medvedev who may still prove worthwhile in the new Russia.
“Democracy has really not cemented itself in Russian society so very little will have been lost when it is eliminated. Things will get done and people won’t have to waste time lining up to vote. Putin will be happy and the rest of the country will be happy, he will make sure of that,” continued Hander. “It will make the stress of everything significantly less important and everything will just move forward as it should and hopefully that will be the end of the public perception problems for Putin. Well, it will be. There won’t be much of a choice.”
No one left in the party has an objections to the plan.
