REQUEST TO GO CAMPING BY NORWEGIAN MASS MURDERER DENIED

September 21 2011

Oslo, Norway – The people of Norway will likely never get over Anders Behring Breivik. His massive attack in July was the thing of legend, an event that rivals the greatest of all mass killings in history. For people outside the country was shocking event, but for the people of Norway it is a living thing that will go on for generations, and the man himself will become the stuff of legend.anders behrin breivik

Such events have happened before in other countries – think Charles Manson – but in Norway, so unused to violent crime, the people and the justice system are largely at a loss in trying to deal with the situation. That, in turn, is extending the pain for a lot of people who would simply like to see it done. As much pain as the people of Norway are experiencing, though, there is one person who will never, ever, forget that day, Anders Behring Breivik.

While it seems unlikely that he will ever express regret over the events of that day, Breivik is starting to learn the hard way the type of life he will now have to endure. His revolution never began, of course, and now he will face the rest of his life in prison. That is something apparently too painful even for a mass murderer which has caused him to complain about his isolation and request day visits to day camp near his jail cell. Police have thus far denied the request, deciding instead to hold him in solitary confinement.

“He has not expressed any remorse. He appeared calm and restrained as he had been earlier,” Breivik’s lawyer Geir Lippestad said after a meeting with the judge. “He said a anders behrin breivik
few words about how he saw custody and isolation. He said it is tough to be in isolation. He wants to get out and breathe the fresh air but the judge has denied this request. It will be challenge to convince him otherwise.”

Breivik had asked to attend a local camp for a few hours a day but was denied by the judge who cited significant security concerns.

Breivik had also asked to bring along a small rifle, for hunting birds which may have killed the request. He has also been denied firearm use in his cell.

“This is a situation where, frankly, it’s probably going to get worse before it gets better for Breivik. It’s going to be a long time before he really settles into his surroundings, at it has to be tough not knowing his future,” said Scrape TV Crime analyst Willard Weston. “Once the trial commences, once he has his sentence handed down, he will be able to relax a little bit but that will be a while yet.”

The trial is expected to start early in 2012.canoeing

“He is just going to have to deal with the discomfort for a little while longer. I understand that he wants to get things settled and have a little more interaction with the outside world but that won’t happen for a long time and he is just going to have to accept that,” continued Weston. “I don’t know the ins and outs of Norwegian law, to be honest, but I would bet in this case, with his notoriety, that it is very unlikely he will ever get to see the outside world again, at least not camping. Day passes in most countries are not granted to mass murderers. This isn’t Ecuador.”

Breivik will likely not be released for the one year anniversary in 2012, despite his pleas.
