SYRIA THREATENS TO ATTACK ISRAEL, RAIN FIRE, BLAH, BLAH, BLAH

October 5 2011

Damascus, Syria – As it has been for the last few decades, the Middle East is very much the hottest spot on the block at the moment. Only a few months removed from the rebellions that saw the toppling of leaders throughout Africa, many nations are seeing their own revolts, albeit less successful, but far more violent and with much more potential to cause serious damage.syria riots

The biggest flashpoint in the region is undoubtedly Syria which has effectively been in a state of civil war for the last few months. With thousands already dead and neither side apparently willing to back down, the conflict in that country is only getting worse by the day and now, with other nations finally willing to step in, things could get even worse.

That escalation has come in the form of a declaration from Syrian President Bashar al-Assad that he will attack Tel Aviv and multiple European countries should NATO decide to involve themselves in the conflict in the country. He also warned that he would call on Hezbollah to join in the attacks, that the West simply cannot understand his power and his resolve, and that he will rain destruction down upon all of his enemies at a moment’s notice, and on and on and on.

“If a crazy measure is taken against Damascus, I will need not more than six hours to transfer hundreds of rockets and missiles to the Golan Heights to fire them at Tel Aviv,” Assad said during a press conference. “All these events will happen in three hours, but in the second three hours, Iran will attack US warships in the Persian Gulf as American and European interests will be targeted.”   bashar al assad

While Syria certainly has the ability to strike its neighbour Israel, it’s not clear how far she would be able to reach into Europe, if at all.

The country apparently has hundreds of rock throwing militants placed strategically throughout Europe, principally in Turkey.

“There is no doubt, no debate, that Syria has the ability right now to attack Israel. Of course, doing so would start a war with that country which is much, much better armed and trained and would only sort of bring the roof down on his head. With NATO and Israel launching strikes, and possibly ground forces from Israel, well that would be problematic,” said Scrape TV International Conflict analyst Mario Martinez. “But he does have to do what he has to do. If he feels that attacking Israel is the right and reasonable response to NATO trying to protect human lives then that’s what he’ll do, it just won’t last all that long.”

Syria is considered one of the better equipped nations in the region, whatever that means exactly.bashar assad

“Simply put, opening up a war with Israel would pretty much end his rule. I mean that may be the case right now anyway but he is still at a stage where he could back out and retain some dignity and not become an international war criminal. Attacking Israel, though, would likely alter that. Plus it would likely get him blown into little tiny pieces, a lot of them,” continued Martinez. “It’s pretty hard to hold onto power when you are in that state. Generally it’s very difficult to make speeches when you have to show up in a Ziploc bag. Even the people of Syria, as into his message and persona as they are, likely wouldn’t buy into that any more. Bags of goo don’t make the best leaders generally.”

Syria has apparently spent the last few months stocking up on Ziplocs.
