THE NETHERLANDS TO OUTLAW MARIJUANA, AT LEAST THE GOOD STUFF
October 8 2011
Amsterdam, the Netherlands – For a good number of years Amsterdam was have for vice. Drugs and prostitution being legal were only the tip of the iceberg as anyone who walked the red light district can tell you. Amsterdam was a modern-day Sodom and Gomorrah in many ways, but things have been changing.
In an effort to make the city more family friendly the leadership has changed a good number of laws including changes to prostitution regulation, bans on coffee shops, and now to their primary drawing point, weed. Across the country new regulations have now come into play that will make the use of good marijuana a crime punishable by drug treatment program, leaving many in the country forced to smoke lousy weed or not smoke at all.
“This action is required to protect the people of the country. Many studies have shown that hard drugs are very damaging to the people who use them and by introducing this new legislation we will prevent these types of injuries from occurring. This is our primary goal, to protect people,” said a government spokesperson. “This
ban will only affect strong marijuana, not weak product and so will affect only a small number of consumers, but those who are most at risk. This is the result of our ongoing efforts to improve the health and lives of the Dutch people and it will continue.”
The restriction bans all marijuana with more than 15 percent THC content. The good stuff that most people use in the country.
“It is a sad day, really, because now our clientele has been restricted. The harder versions of marijuana will still be used but will be sold in alleys and by criminals and that is not a good thing. Now we will have to deal with college kids insisting this is the best stuff they have ever smoked, and those people just don’t pay very much and are a little annoying,” said one Amsterdam coffee shop owner. “This is not what we want, these restrictions will destroy our businesses and make the heavy spenders go to outlaws and criminals. It will also drive us crazy having to deal with these young users. They are not the clients we want to have.”
Amsterdam also recently banned foreigners from coffee shops, indicating that the city is indeed serious about turning it family friendly.
“There is no debate that all the hookers and drugs and porn shops made it difficult for families to go into downtown Amsterdam, especially after dark, but it did offer a unique experience. Not one for children, at least not normal children, but a unique one. Very few children use prostitutes or smoke weed anyway,” said Scrape TV International analyst Gustav Hander. “One day we may even see Ferris wheels and water slides in the downtown areas, which would certainly be very appealing to families but will mean the loss of something unique and possibly valuable. It’s a shame but things likely won’t go back to the way they were.”
Most smokers in the city were outraged and promised they would do something about it tomorrow, or the next day.
