IRAN GIVES U.S. CARRIER ONE WARNING, WILL NOT GIVE A SECOND
January 3 2011
Tehran, Iran – A New Year and a new threat from Iran currently conducting exercises off her coast. This time the Iranian military warned a U.S. aircraft carrier away from the area where they are conducting military exercises, near the all-important Strait of Hormuz.
“I advise, recommend and warn them (the Americans) over the return of this carrier to the Persian Gulf because we are not in the habit of warning more than once,” said Army head Ataollah Salehi. “Iran will not repeat its warning ... the enemy's carrier has been moved to the Sea of Oman because of our drill. I recommend and emphasise to the American carrier not to return to the Persian Gulf.”
The specific details of the confrontation were not made public, but it is believed that one of the U.S. carriers simply strayed too far into the exercise zone before being issued the warning.
It’s believed likely that the vessel backed off after receiving the message, which was likely accompanied by very fast boats knocking up spray against her hull and shouts from the crew.
The U.S. fifth fleet is currently staged in Bahrain and has repeatedly said they will not be scared off from the region, though this time at least they appear to have backed off, taking the Iranian threat seriously, especially from all the boats with flames all up and down the sides.
Some boats all have skulls and swords, though those are considered the elite of the Iranian Navy.
“Normally, you would dismiss this. I mean Iran threatens everyone all the time and so one more threat, one more warning, it’s almost a gag eventually, but it appears that isn’t the case anymore. The difference here is that they actually have boats in the water. Normally they would just shout threats from Tehran, but now that U.S. has actually seen their military at work, well it’s causing them to be a little more cautious, obviously,” said Scrape TV International Conflict analyst Mario Martinez. “I mean seeing all those boats zooming around, moving and shifting like there’s somebody actually in charge and sending up all that spray, well, once you do that you know things are serious and so of course the Americans have no choice but to back off.”
Iranian vessels have also ridden alongside tankers passing through the Strait blaring loud music, causing a lot of stress amongst the tanker crews and even prompting a few to dive overboard with fear.
“Right now it appears that we are still at the posturing spot, but if something goes wrong again, well, things could go bad. I mean Iran warned once and they said very clearly that they won’t give another warning. That’s serious, when you say you aren’t going to give another warning. Deadly serious in fact,” continued Martinez. “Luckily they haven’t brought out the skull ships. I mean hopefully the warning is enough, it appears to be, the Americans did pull out the ship after all. The last thing anyone wants is those scary skull ships roaming the area. Once that happens then we really know it’s on, that’s when things are going to start getting really bad really fast.”
A number of U.S. vessel have reportedly been sitting just outside the Iranian zone, watching as they practice their water sprays and loud taunts, unable to do anything to stop them.
