IRANIAN LAWMAKER SAYS U.S. OFFERED TALKS SO SECRET EVEN THEY DIDN’T KNOW ABOUT THEM

January 19 2012

Tehran, Iran – There are really only a handful of possibilities in the current standoff with Iran. One is that the country capitulates, gives into the demands of the West and bows to the pressure being put on them. The second is that they push forward with their nuclear program and the West does nothing, simply allows it to happen. The third is of course war, a war that would likely destabilize the entire region and mire Iran, the United States, and dozens of other countries in a conflict that could outlast Afghanistan by a mile.iranian warships

Unfortunately, none of those options is really preferable for all sides, and thus the conflict continues. People are trying though, on all sides, to get their way and eventually something will have to give. One outcome will occur no matter what, it’s just a matter of which one.

For the U.S. the ultimate goal would be for Iran to step back from developing the weapons and allow international observers. That is what the U.S. has repeatedly stated, and something from which they have never backed down, and now it appears something which they were willing to negotiate in private, so private in fact that only person even knew the talks had been proposed. In fact, not even the U.S. knew they had offered to hold the talks, so secret they were.

“In the letter, Obama called for direct talks with Iran. The letter also said that closing the Strait of Hormuz is red line. The first part of the letter contains threats and the second part contains an offer for dialogue,” said Ali Motahari, a conservative lawmaker in the country, on the semi-official Fars news agency.ali motahari

Motahari appears to have been the only one in possession of the letter, which had no return address and appeared to be on official White House stationary.

The U.S. has denied sending such a letter and made it clear that any request for talks would be sent to the leadership council.

“Ultimately there may be no option but to talk about the situation but right now neither sides seems will to negotiate the deal or even speak. I also doubt very much that the President would send a letter to a low-level politician to try and open up official negotiations. That would be a little odd,” said Scrape TV International analyst Gustav Hander. “It is possible I suppose. I mean this is a tough situation and any kind of talks could be beneficial, and thinking outside the box is not a bad idea. I think though we would have to see the envelope to really confirm where the letter came from, perhaps even inspect the handwriting.”

Motahari claims to have destroyed the envelope shortly after opening the letter, which he ate after memorizing the contents.

“When you are talking about international disputes of this scale you really need to barack obama
keep your paperwork, keep the document trail clean in order to prevent any kind of miscommunication. That does not appear to be what happened here and that could be part of the reason the U.S. has denied sending the letter,” continued Hander. “I’m sure if it was sent the President would have kept a copy himself. He’s a smart man and he knows the value of backing up your actions, even when they are supposed to be secret. Unless that comes out though I’m going to remain sceptical that the letter was even sent to anyone, never mind this particular person.”

In the past Motahari also claimed to have sparked the idea for the Iranian Revolution and invented Post-It notes, both issues upon which his last campaign was built.
