MUSLIM BROTHERHOOD FINALLY FREE TO HATE ISRAEL PUBLICLY
January 04 2012
Cairo, Egypt – As thrilling as the revolts throughout Africa were last year, they brought with them real fears about the future of the nations involved. While no one will debate that the leadership in those countries was deeply corrupt and fully deserved being thrown from power, there was and still is grave concerns about what will eventually take their place, and whether or not the devil you know would have been preferable.
That is very much the debate going on in Egypt in particular right now as the Muslim Brotherhood gains more and more power, pushing the nation towards what many fear will be a radical religious leadership, which could end up being much worse than Hosni Mubarak and his cadre ever were.
It is the Muslim Brotherhood above all else that outsiders are concerned about, a political group which is possibly the most powerful in the nation already. The power and vague radicalism in the party has energized concerns about the future of the nation but now the group has come out and publicly declared their hatred for Israel, putting them in line with just about every other government in the region and providing a bit of relief to observers around the world.
“This is not an option, whatever the circumstances, we do not recognize Israel at all. It’s an occupying criminal enemy. I will not allow myself to sit down with criminals,” said deputy leader Dr. Rashad Bayoumi. “The Brotherhood respects international conventions, but we will take legal action against the peace treaty with the Zionist entity.”
Bayoumi went on to spout other things about Zionists, Israel, and Palestine, most of it totally unoriginal and hardly even worth noting.
The Brotherhood has taken a large number of seats in the months long elections that may or may not be over. It’s not clear if the military leadership in place in the country will allow them to actually take power.
“It’s a slightly touchy situation in Egypt but it always was. I mean Mubarak was a stabilizing force. He did a lot for the nation, but so did Saddam, and so did Hitler. Yes, he built libraries and schools but he also didn’t allow girls to attend, kind of taking the good with the bad,” said Scrape TV African analyst Claude Contee. “The biggest issue in Egypt and all these nations that overthrew their leaders is that they need to learn what democracy is. They just don’t have a concept of that at this stage. They have spent so many years not having democracy that they just don’t understand. They do, however, understand hating Israel and so that will become a common refrain.”
Egypt has fought a handful of wars with Israel but the two nations do have a peace treaty.
“Hating Israel is as common as eating hummus. It’s second nature. Most of that commentary was kept down by Mubarak and his thugs but now the people of Egypt are free, free to vote, eventually anyway, and free to hate absolutely anyone they want,” continued Contee. “I’m sure Israel is just the first of those hatreds that will come out. Eventually the U.S., Europe, and who knows who else will enter the dialogue. Hatred is one of those freedoms that Mubarak and his thugs just didn’t allow and now people are going to indulge.”
Israel, it is believed, also hate the Muslim Brotherhood.
