ROBOTS GET OUT OF CONTROL AND TAKE OVER JAPANESE FARMS

January 8 2012

Tokyo, Japan – There has been many stories, tales, fantasies, about the end of the world throughout time. Normally those apocalyptic tales reflect some type of trend in society, some kind of construct or new development that brings confusion and concern. The method of destruction is almost always that, the product of a changing world, and so too is the fear of mass destruction itself.robot worker

In the modern world new developments come extremely rapidly and new fears tend to permeate each new generation. The source of global destruction for one generation is almost blasé for the next who have their own set of fears and fantasies about the end of the world. None of these things have happened, of course, but a new development in Japan may finally spark the beginning of the end.

For years the technology revolution has brought concerns of a robotic invasion, an apocalypse created by machines of one description or another. For much of the 20th century, in fact, the debate was whether or not it would be robots or nukes that end the world. Now the robotic invasion appears to have begun, exactly where people expected it would, as robots take over farmlands across Japan.

“The first stage of this new technology is to use the robots to farm the lands which were damaged by the Tsunami. They will harvest crops such as rice, beans, and vegetables independently, box them, and then ship them for sale,” said a spokesperson for the Ministry of Agriculture. “This is an experiment at this stage, but we believe very soon there will be robots all across the country, harvesting all our food and removing one more laborious task from the human responsibilities.”robot farmer

Thus far the robots have only been deployed on a 600 acre tract of land, but are apparently so efficient and like the job so much, have already been asking for more work.

Scientists believe they have complete control over the robots and that they will not be allowed to completely control our food supply, working entirely for humans.

“I have very great doubts that robots will ever take over the world. It’s a powerful fantasy, really very similar to monster stories, but the practicalities of taking over a planet, particularly by a species that requires resources which are limited, make complete control unlikely at best,” said Scrape TV Apocalypse analyst Seth Morris. “It is possible that they will take over a small area of the planet, perhaps a place we will allow them to control, but I think the more likely scenario is that they will become a disruptive force, spread across the planet, causing a whole host of problems which will in turn either propagate or propel the apocalypse.”human robot

The first stage of the disruption would likely be communications, and then food supply.

“Robots need us, at least right now, and so they won’t make their move quite yet. They will bide their time, spread across the globe, and then put the hooks in, disrupting food supply, communications, power generation. That would create chaos, riots, disease, and other terrible things, causing us to create our own destruction,” continued Morris. “They would force us to bring about our own destruction, that is the insidious part of this whole thing, the real danger, not of robot armies taking over the streets. They will mop up once we are gone, use us as fertilizer. This is just the first stage.”

The Japanese government has denied any malicious intent by the robots, yet, though no officials have eaten the robot food yet.
