SYRIAN FIRST FAMILY FOILED IN VACATION ATTEMPT OUT OF THE COUNTRY

Damascus, Syria – Considering everything that went on in Arab countries last year, considering how prominent those uprisings were, it’s hard to believe that similar things continue to happen in other nations simply because we aren’t hearing about it nearly as much. True, every now and then we hear tales from countries like Syria about protests, but compared to the media attention that embroiled the world in those civil uprisings last year, the events in Syria are downright docile.
At least, that is, to outside observers. Inside the country the story is a little different with anarchy, chaos, and killings pretty much a standard part of the lifestyle in the country. That reality on the ground has made the situation within the country very awkward and of course very stressful for the people involved, something even more problematic with consistent interference from outsiders telling the government what to do about their problem.
Seeking to escape that stress and tension, the family of President Bashar al-Assad attempted to flee the country, at least temporarily, and go on a little vacation from all the blood pouring along the streets, only to be stopped at the airport and having their plans scuttled at the last second, likely losing the money they paid for the tickets in the process.
“It is true that Asma Assad and a few other family members did attempt to go on vacation but ultimately decided that they were going to stay. When they met with a group of rebel army defectors at the airport they made the decision that their best option was to stay at home, perhaps visit the countryside away from all the killing,” said a Syrian government spokesperson. “The children in particular were disappointed. They had been looking forward to getting away from all the explosions and the screams of innocent men and women dying, but they will get over it. We are currently negotiating with the airline to refund at least a portion of the ticket price.”
It’s not clear where the Assad’s had been planning to travel, but it was likely far away from home and all the killing.
It’s believed that the vacation was to be two weeks long, or shorter if the mass killing were to stop ahead of schedule.
“It has to be hard there in the country for everyone and I’m sure there are many people who would like to get out and take a vacation. It’s great that the First Family decided against the vacation, that they chose to stay in the country and with their people, to kind of suffer the same fate as their people, well with likely a lot less bloodshed and more money, but at least a similar fate. That speaks to how connected the Assad family really is to the people despite all this anger,” said Scrape TV Middle East analyst David Gershwin. “You don’t see that kind of thing very often, turning back and staying with the people rather than going on vacation, but that’s just the kind of people the Assad’s are, despite their reputation for being despots and brutal murderers with no regard for human life. It’s amazing how wrong you can be sometimes.”
Bashar Assad had planned to join his family but will now also be staying in country.
