TURKISH ARREST WARRANT FINALLY GETS SARAH FERGUSON TO STAY IN ENGLAND
January 17 2012
London, U.K. – In every there are one or two wild cards, the people on the outside looking in, who make everyone uncomfortable when they walk in the room. Whether it’s the creepy uncle or the catty sister-in-law the mechanism is the same, and pretty much every family has at least of them, even the most famous family on the planet.
That family is of course the British Royal Family, the House of Windsor. The traditionally reserved and austere family has, for years, been plagued by poor marriage choices. First came the troublemaker Princess Diana who never seemed completely grateful for what she had been given, and then cam Sarah Ferguson who undoubtedly was fun for her nieces and nephews when they were younger, but was just annoying for everyone else.
Diana has of course been dead for a number of years, and Ferguson has been on the outs, divorced since 1996, but still very much a part of the Royal Family, much to their chagrin, and to the chagrin of the majority of the world. Now though it appears that Ferguson, ‘Fergie’ will be isolated to her home island for the foreseeable future, trying to avoid a court indictment in Turkey that could see her imprisoned for years, leaving her trapped and the rest of the world free from her antics for a little while at least.
“Sarah is totally shocked by this because she thought it had gone away. It was, after all, more than three years ago. This has come out of the blue and she is deeply worried,” an insider told CNN. “She is pretty shaken and quite scared.”
Ferguson is under threat as the result of documentary she filmed a number of years ago exposing terrible conditions in Turkish orphanages. She is charged with violating the private rights of five children and any travel could leave her open to extradition and trial.
Ferguson could receive a sentence of more than 22 years for the charges, but because she is famous it would likely become and international incident and daily news, so staying at home is likely best for everyone.
Ferguson is reportedly drinking a lot and considering options to get some money out of the charges.
“Legally speaking she is not at huge risk by travelling to countries like the United States. This is, likely, just talk from the Turks, just a show to display their outrage over exposing the horrible conditions in their orphanages but actually jailing a member of the Royal Family, well that just wouldn’t happen,” said Scrape TV Legal analyst Gabe Hawthorne. “Luckily the Turks have done us, the whole world, a huge favour this time. That may or may not have been their intent, but it worked. She is stuck in Britain and unlikely to move anytime soon so whether or not they would be willing to follow up doesn’t really matter. All that matters is they believe they will, that’s enough to keep her from the rest of us.”
Ferguson was literally minutes away from being killed in the World Trade Center attacks in 2001, but was unfortunately running late that day.
