AUSTRALIA GOES ROGUE AND SIDES WITH THE TERROISTS
October 23 2009
Canberra, Australia – Australia has always been a country built on rebellion. As a prison colony in its earliest days the very first European inhabitants were innately rebellious and it is that plucky attitude that has brought the country from one of the
wildest places on the planet to a sophisticated and wealthy nation, standing amongst many of the greatest nations that have ever been founded. Despite that success, or perhaps because of it, Australians have retained their rebellious nature, bringing it to forefront anytime things get a little too comfortable.
The rest of the world has always known that about the country though it’s likely very few expected the complete turnaround they have suddenly shown. That turn came in the form of an announcement from Australian Prime Minister John Faulkner declaring that his country was about the make a decision about the future of their troops in Afghanistan. That decision is believed to be a total removal of forces from the war torn country, a move that in the eyes of the United States puts the former friend firmly on the side of the terrorists. Though Faulkner stopped short of declaring support for the Taliban or Al Qaeda, many in the U.S. believe that his actions speak louder than his words.
“In spite of the fact that Australia is geographically distanced from all centers of world politics, it is not going to live in this self-isolation. The country tries to play an important role on the international arena. As a matter of fact, Australia is a regional superpower, and its ambitions touch upon not only Oceania, but Asia as well,” said Russian man living in Australia. “In addition, Canberra has many areas of common interest with the United States. The ties became especially close after the end of WWII, when communists took China under control. Afterwards, the Australian military contingent joined the US army in Korea and Vietnam.”
Faulkner for his part has been under pressure from political allies and opponents to pull Australian troops out of harm’s way. It’s not clear what influence the average Australian’s opinion has on the decision to remove the troops from active service.
“Australia really needs to be careful in how they handle this. They have been long connected to the west and their strongest connections, and closest travel distance, is to nations that think in a similar way to the United States. It’s not just the U.S. and Britain they have to worry about, its Asia whose countries are some of Australia’s strongest trading partners,” said Scrape TV International analyst Gustav Hander. “By siding with terrorists they are risking their future potential and possibly undoing everything they have worked for all these years to achieve. The country will likely spiral into chaos and confusion, mass exodus, rioting in the streets, and very likely a quarantine of the nation in order to prevent the spread of that chaos from spreading outwards.”
Many have cited the Mad Max series as possible eventually for the island nation. In those films, Mel Gibson plays a man in a post-apocalyptic world fighting for survival. Mel Gibson currently lives in Los Angeles.
“The real concern is that this chaos will spread to the civilized world. New Zealand and Tasmania aside, if it reaches Asia it could spread northward, eventually intersecting with the Afghanistan and Pakistan again, sending billions into an apocalyptic wasteland run by terrorists and murderers,” continued Hander. “That is, of course, a worst case scenario. It could prove a handy guide though as both Canada and Italy have expressed interest in abandoning the fight and siding with the terrorists, moves which could ultimately doom the entire world to ruin.”
U.S. Officials put the possibility of obliterating Australia with nuclear weapons at 50/50 depending largely on their upcoming decision.
