DUBAI AQUARIUM CRACK SEALED UNTIL BETTER OPPORTUNITY ARRIVES

March 1 2010

Dubai, UAE – Mankind has undoubtedly conquered the terrestrial world, spreading across every continent, inhabiting virtually every corner of the globe, spreading our domination on a daily basis. As our population increases, and our appetite for growth earth
continues unabated, our continued dominance of the land on this little blue marble is likely to continue for a long time to come. There is one area however where we are very much out of our element, on area that continues to baffle and amaze us with its diversity and danger, the ocean.

It has been through the ocean that we have been able to grow our dominance of the planet, connecting continents and countries to one another for millennia before air flight. Even today, ocean travel is the dominant form of transit, spreading culture and goods amongst nations. The oceans though remain as much a mystery as ever, with their depths so extreme that we might never be able to fully understand what lies at the bottom. It is perhaps because of that mystery that our fascination with what lies beneath the surface continues unabated. Whether it’s the grand beasts of the deep such as sharks, whales, and octopus or the more sublime beauties, our connection with the ocean runs deep. It is that fascination with the underworld that the owners of the Dubai mall seem to have attempted to exploit, a revelation that has come as the result of a leak at their massive aquarium which has now been patched until more people arrive.dubai aquarium stingrays

“A leakage was noticed at one of the panel joints of the Dubai Aquarium at The Dubai Mall and was immediately fixed by the aquarium's maintenance team. The leakage did not impact the aquarium environment or the safety of the aquatic animals,” said a spokesperson for the mall. “We do not believe that this will be a continuing problem and we will continue to uphold the highest safety standards in respect to the aquarium and all other aspects of mall management.”

The aquarium holds 10 million litres of water and more than 33,000 animals, none of which would be significantly affected if the glass enclosure had suddenly collapsed.

“It’s deeply embarrassing for the owners on so many levels. The major one of course dubai aqaurium sharks
is the fact that a key component of their long term plan has now been revealed for the world to see. This leak was obviously not supposed to happen. The bolts are designed to break away, but all at once. It appears as though someone made a mistake,” said a Dubai insider. “Basically they’ve been waiting for the right opportunity. The right mix of people or, hopefully, a visiting head of state to unleash the torrent of water and sea animals. Not only would that cause a great deal of excitement, the insurance claims would help return the hotel to profitability almost instantly. Now they may have to try something else.”

The emirate of Dubai has recently run out of money and has been defaulting on loans, making the push for cash even more desperate.great white shark

“Now people are going to be hesitant to visit the mall and even those who do are going to be nervous about travelling through the aquarium. That’s the biggest challenges presenting them now. It means that they are going to have to wait a long, long time before making those claims,” continued the insider. “I mean death and murder has been going on in the Middle East since humanity first started to settle there so it will work no matter when they do it, but now is when the need is greatest. They need to do a great job of recovering confidence if they are going to pull this off.”

The owners are reportedly planning on bringing more sharks into the aquarium in an effort to draw more tourists and increase the death toll.
