EU OFFERS GREECE ‘MORAL SUPPORT’

February 15 2010

Athens, Greece – There has never been a promise that nations are here to stay. Great empires have risen and fallen and ultimately been rendered to history books. One needs to look no further than the Mayans, the Aztecs, the Phoenicians, or the the parthenin
Akkadians to see how great peoples have simply disappeared from the planet. Other nations that once enjoyed greatness have remained though only as shells of their former selves. Rome, for example, or Mongolia which once ruled more of the world than any other nation, have fallen far as the world has changed. No country is safe from the ravages of history.

No other existing country is a better example of that than modern day Greece. The nation that brought the world democracy, the modern economic system, astronomy, complex mathematics, and great thinkers such as Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle has certainly not lived up to her historical achievements or legacy. With rioting in the streets and a debt zeus
threatening to completely corrupt the economic system of the country, the nation that has contributed so much to global country is on the verge of collapse. Now the European Union has lent a kind word and moral support for the nation, but is refusing to offer financial assistance to the country. While much of that has to do with the growing instability of the Euro and other struggling economies in Spain and Portugal, many see this as righteous justice for nations that have long lived in the shadow of the mighty Greece.

“We stand shoulder to shoulder with Greece but I want reliable information about what Greece is actually doing,” said German Chancellor Angela Merkel, a sentiment echoed by the leaders of other EU nations.

“We wanted to shoulder our responsibility by offering political support to Greece. But it is not in our interest to foster whatever speculation some will indulge in,” said French President Nicolas Sarkozy, whose country’s achievements have long been overshadowed by Greece’s past.greek riot police

EU leaders will meet with the International Monetary Fund in March where they will request advice on a direction to take with the nation, advice many believe they will be unlikely to follow.

“They have to take these kinds of steps. They have to do it but that doesn’t mean they need to follow through on any of the recommendations. Everyone respects Greece and their history hell just step foot in the country and you breathe achievement, but many feel that they have been coasting on that for far too long. After all, these aren’t the people that built the Parthenon, they are just guys, and that greek riot police
angers a lot of nations,” said Scrape TV European analyst Gillian Weismann. “Nations like Germany and Britain for example were devastated after the war, but they picked themselves up, dusted off, and have done well. Even former Soviet states are in better shape than Greece and everyone knows that when Estonia is doing better than you, you are in trouble.”

Many have also speculated that the financial crisis may result in a type of stewardship over the country, something that would be delicious revenge for many nations.trojan horse

“Obviously the country that would like that the most is Turkey. They have waged so man conflicts with Greece over the years that the idea of conquering them would be a real comeuppance. Of course they aren’t a part of the EU and so have no say in this, indicating that other countries might have an eye on the Greeks,” continued Weismann. “Obviously Germany would have to be in that mix because, well because when was the last time they conquered something? Italy would likely show an interest but they will likely trip over their own feet or sink their own boats before making landfall. No matter who it is though, it will be interesting to watch and really, about time.”

It’s believed little of value will be lost should Greece come under the control of a foreign power.
