GRIZZLY BEARS INVADING CANADA’S CAPITAL

March 5 2010

Ottawa, Canada – While Canada has not shared the history of warfare that some other nations have, her history has nonetheless been a bloody one. The battles between the French and English, the subjugation of Native populations, and of course canadian soldiers
the war of 1812 have all shed blood on Canadian soil. Protected by the British for much her history, Canada’s rise to one of the most successful nations in the world was far from a given as those early pioneers carved a nation out of ice and snow. Despite of, or possibly because of those early traumas however, Canada has had great success.

Unlike her massive neighbour to the south, Canada has never endured continued aggression. Internal dissent has fractured the nation at times, but since her founding in 1867 to the present day no major threat has ever allied itself against the well-respected and well-loved country, until now. According to reports the once wild nation is now under threat from a menace they once though defeated, the mighty Grizzly Bear. Reports of multiple bear sightings throughout the Ottawa area has raised fears that much like the cetacean uprising occurring in Florida, nature has begun surging forward, making a move on the species that has dominated the planet for so long, humans.candian parliament

“I know this is the Great White North and all but in major cities it is very unusual to see wildlife roaming around the streets. I was taking my daughter to school and beside us there was this bear just staring at us while we were at the stoplight. It didn’t do anything, just stood there, but you could tell he was thinking something,” said Mary Collins, 43, of nearby Nepean. “I mean we’ve got some forest area around here and occasionally you see a deer and I’ve even heard of people seeing a brown bear, but not a Grizzly. That is just something else entirely and is very, very scary. Being so close to the capital as well I can’t help think that something is happening.”

Reportedly police were called to an Ottawa home last week after reports of a large bear in backyard, which had departed by the time they arrived. Other sightings throughout the city indicate that a full scale movement might be occurring.grizzly bear

“We have had multiple reports of bear sightings throughout the city and we are responding to every report. We do not see this as a major issue and we do not believe the public or the government is at risk. These are isolated incidents,” said a spokesperson for the Ottawa police department. “If the situation changes and more bears begin appearing in the capital we will reassess our position and act accordingly. We believe it is very unlikely that a full scale rebellion is under way or in the planning stages, due in large part to the very limited intelligence possessed by the Grizzly, as well as their relatively low numbers.”

According to a National Geographic report Grizzlies have been encroaching on Polar Bear territory, indicating that some major action is being undertaken by the species.grizzle bear claws

“It would be a little soon to assume that because Grizzlies have been spotted in the capital that they are planning some kind of massive attack or coup against the government. True, those bears are not native to that area but they are also very much loners and very low level when it comes to intelligence so that assumption would be quite the leap,” said Scrape TV Zoology analyst Cambridge Walker. “Traditionally bears do not work in groups and have never been known to collaborate in attacks, especially against a human government. If that were to happen we might be in trouble, but I think it’s very unlikely.”

Experts have no specific numbers on total population of Grizzlies in Canada, but it is believed to be higher than the number of police officers in Ottawa.
