OFFICIALS FEAR POTENTIAL VIKING INVASION AHEAD OF 2012 OLYMPIC GAMES

March 15 2010

London, U.K. – There is rarely an Olympic games that goes by without a massive controversy. In Salt Lake a bombing nearly derailed the games, in Athens IOC officials publicly rebuked the city for its lax pace in building facilities, in Beijing human rights london 2012 logo
protestors took the focus away from the athletes, and in Vancouver melting snow and an unfortunate death almost stopped the games before they started. With that many people and that much focus, controversy seems almost inevitable, something that has already started for the next event.

London’s history, size, and world standing seemed to make the city the perfect fit for the Summer Olympics, putting the games in one of the highest profile locations in the world. Placing it such a major centre was inevitably going to bring controversy with construction already bringing traffic woes to congested streets and concerns about security reaching a fever pitch. Now however a new controversy has erupted, one that may ultimately undo the best viking grave
intentions and the best efforts of the organizers for good. At issue is the discovery of 51 decapitated corpses in one the major sites for the 2012 games. The corpses, believed to be that of young Vikings, have put the future of the games on hold and mark very grave concerns for the nation that had thought it was rid of conquerors forever.

“What we found was all of these guys came from a climate that had to be colder than Britain ... probably Sweden and Norway. One guy had such a signature of such a cold climate that he probably came from above the Arctic Circle. The burial pit took us all by surprise and its story gets more fascinating as the analysis goes on,” lead investigator Jane Evans told CNN. “Obviously future developments on this site are viking
on hold now and will be until we can determine exactly what happened to these young men and who might have done it to them. Until that can be determined, construction will be halted.”

While police and forensic investigators are currently concerned with a potential crime, it is the potential of a fresh Viking invasion that has most concerned London Olympic committee officials.

“We will have the best security of any games, I can assure you of that, and we would have before this discovery. However, the possibility of an invasion by hordes of Viking marauders has put just about everyone on edge here. We are prepared for terrorists, protestors, and general rabble-rousers, but Vikings, that is a totally different thing,” said Basil Jackson of the LOC. “We’ve been in touch with the Prime Minister’s office and he they have assured us that they will offer any support that is required. WE hope that this is an isolated incident and that the nation isn’t once again being beset by pillagers. It has been many years since that vikings
happened, and we had hoped that it would be many years before it happened again. We hope that they don’t use these games as an opportunity to mount a full scale invasion.”

England was last conquered in 1688 by Dutch forces, a wound which still stings for many in the country.

“We have been in contact with the governments of Sweden, Denmark, and Norway and they have assured us that they have no plan to invade the country, either now or in the future, but of course that is exactly what you would expect them to say,” continued Jackson. “Traditionally Vikings have not been the most trustworthy lot and I expect that if they were mounting some kind of attack that they would do everything they could to hide that fact. This is their first slip up however, and hopefully will arrest a full scale assault.”

Greenland, not a traditional summer games country, has reportedly applied for a record number of athletes for the 2012 games.
