FRANCE THREATENS TO PULL OUT OF EUROPE

May 16 2010

Paris, France – France has had many dynamic in her history. William the Conqueror led his forces to conquer England. Napoleon was, well, Napoleon. Charles de Gaulle helped lead the French resistance and became one of the great leaders of the 20th nicolas sarkozy carla bruni
century. Nicolas Sarkozy has followed in that tradition by becoming one of the most vocal and charismatic leaders in the world. Married to a former model, Sarkozy has become a lightning rod for praise and criticism in his country and beyond, ensuring that the long line of dynamic French leaders is intact.

In dealing with the most recent crisis facing not only his country but also the entire European Union – the economic crisis in Greece – Sarkozy has once again proven his place as one of the major leaders in the world. Though Germany and her leader, Angela Merkel, have taken the lead in dealing with the crisis, it is Sarkozy who has dealt most adeptly with the issues. Now new comments by the Spanish Prime Minister illustrate just how fervent and passionate the French leader has become in dealing with the issues facing the Union after relaying a story about how Sarkozy threatened to pull out of Europe entirely if a deal could not be reached.europe map

“Sarkozy demanded a commitment from everyone to support Greece...or France would reconsider its position in the euro. Sarkozy ended up banging his fist on the table and threatening to leave the euro...This forced Angela Merkel to give in and reach an agreement,” Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero apparently said in a closed door meeting. “That would have left us all in a very tough position that could not be tolerated for very long. The removal of France from the continent would have very significant economic and transport issues and could cripple all of us. Very shortly afterwards an agreement was reached.”

Germany and France have long been considered the leaders of the European Union and because of their geographical positions are essential the long term stability of the continent.

"Those two countries constitute the bulk of Western Europe and their split would nicolas sarkozy carla bruni
have disastrous consequences for everyone. Germany might stick around with the rest of the countries but countries like Spain and Portugal would be cut off entirely and left to float around the pacific which wouldn’t be good for anyone, especially them,” said Scrape TV European analyst Gillian Weismann. “The other issue is that of plate tectonics. The removal of a major section of the land mass would have inevitable effects on the stability of the entire plate which could cause instability and things like earthquakes throughout the remainder of the continent. I’d imagine we would see major earthquakes and possibly volcanoes, though I don’t know anything about geology so I could be totally off on that. There’s no way that could be good though.”

It’s believed that ay new placement for the country would also disrupt ocean currents and shipping lanes making the situation even stickier.

“There’s obviously a big question as to the physical feasibility of such an action. nicolas sarkozy
Nothing like that has ever been done before and would require a great deal of engineering know how. There’s also a major legal issue and whether or not the President even has the right to move the entire country. In France personal rights and liberties have a totally different status so forcing people to leave their continent could have serious legal implications, and political ones,” continued Weismann. “For now anyway it doesn’t appear that it will be a problem. The situation seems at least temporarily resolved but that might not be the case the next time a major crisis strikes the Union. Interestingly, the next major crisis is likely to be in Spain and Portugal so we shall see what happens.”

It’s believed likely that if those two countries endure the same level of economic turmoil that they will simply be cut loose.
