GREECE ON THE BRINK OF COLLAPSE BLAH, BLAH, BLAH

May 6 2010

Athens, Greece – Protest has long been the best way for people to show their government that they are not pleased with the way things are going. Whether motivated by politics, economics, or some kind of social need protest has long been protest
the right of people in a civilized and democratic society. For people to protest in Greece then, the home of democracy itself, seems absolutely perfect. However, protest has a way of changing itself with rioting never far from the surface, which is exactly what has started to happen in Greece.

At the heart of the rioting, which has already left three people dead, is the ongoing economic crisis strangling the country. Record unemployment and a massive bailout from EU partners has left the economy of the country in tatters and the people feeling as though their government is either unwilling or unable to do anything to help. Pension cuts, wage freezes, and tax hikes greece riots
are all a part of the recovery effort for the country which prompted a general strike, which have now turned violent. Of course all of this might be of great interest to the rest of the world if it hadn’t been for the premiere of the newest Miley Cyrus video which has fans and critics in a froth.

The video for ‘Can’t be Tamed’ shows the teen singer with wings in a giant bird cage presented to an adoring audience. Showing a new sexy side, the video has already brought forth bile from critics who once again have accused the singer of sexing up her image. The lyrics of the song too, in which Cyrus declares her womanhood has prompted many to criticize all involved, particularly as many of her fans remain very young.

“It’s a tough thing for parents in particular. They have to explain to their young miley cyrus cant be tamed
daughters why their favourite star is up there prancing around in skimpy clothing and acting in a very sexual way. The children might not understand what all that means but that’s exactly the problem. If they understood it they could contextualize it but they are at a stage where they just want to emulate and doing that in this case could be disturbing to say the least,” said Scrape TV Entertainment analyst Tracey Temple. “It’s a tough road for Cyrus and her people to walk. They want to engage the older audiences and those who have grown up with her for the last few years but they also risk alienating younger listeners. Of course she also has to grow. Seeing a forty year old woman singing songs for 12 year olds would be very strange. She has to evolve her person for long term success.”miley cyrus pole dancing

A similar outcry occurred when Britney Spears did much the same thing, though to significantly deleterious effects later in life.

“Cyrus is at heart still country girl, much like Spears, of course she isn’t nearly as trashy. Her dad was a success and so there is money and experience there meaning that some of the pitfalls that felled Spears will be easily avoided by Cyrus, hopefullyanyway,” continued Temple. “That doesn’t make it any easier for parents of young children who have to fight off these influences. It’s a very stressful thing for parents nowadays to be sure but unfortunately they will just have to deal with it. This is the way the world is going to be for the future and Miley is just going to get older and older and likely more risqué as she does.”

Cyrus will be touring Europe in the summer, though will not be stopping n Greece.
