IRANIAN OFFICIALS SHOCKED OVER HUMAN RIGHTS CRITICISM

June 16 2010

Geneva, Switzerland – We are living in a time of incredible peace and stability in the world. Never before has the world seen the kind of general calm that we have enjoyed since the end of the Second World War. Yes, there have been major wars around the iran gay hanging
world and yes some nations have endured oppressive governments and in some cases genocide, but in the context of all that has come before, our world is downright placid. Most nations simply are not at war and many of those that are simply send troops to a far off land, far from their own shores, allowing those few nations to remain heated.

Of course not everything is totally peaceful and a few nations certainly present major challenges to the rest of the world. North Korea for example is widely considered a nuclear powder keg headed by a delusional and maniacal head of state. Countries throughout Africa remain at the brink of major implosion due to corrupt and ineffective governments and crushing poverty. Iran though has been at the top of many people’s lists. Boasting one of the largest militaries in the world, a significant infrastructure, nuclear ambitions, and a totalitarian theocracy the nation is quite rightly considered frightening, something they seem to relish. However even the Iranians have limits and despite much protestation have been sharply rebuked by dozens of nations for human rights violations, something that comes as very much  a shock to the leadership of that country.norwegian people

“We cannot let this Human Rights Council session go by without marking the one-year anniversary of these events this month. Iran’s many shortcomings include the violent suppression of dissent, detention and executions without due process of law, severe discrimination against women and minorities including people of Baha'i faith, and restrictions of expression and religion,” said the statement delivered by Norwegian Ambassador Bente Angell-Hansen, in part. “We take on more significant sanctions against Iran in an effort to change their behaviour and encourage them to participate in the world in a rational and more humane way. We cannot allow nations to simply impose their will on their people.”

Iranian officials were reportedly shocked by the comments and the rebuke which was spoken on behalf of 56 separate nations.

“All of those things are true. I’m sure there are far worse violations in the country on ayatollah ali khamenei
a regular basis including black bag jobs and the like but obviously the government of Iran simply doesn’t see it that way and quite understandably so,” said Scrape TV International analyst Gustav Hander. “You see massive corruption in Zimbabwe, ethnic cleansing in Sudan, and military juntas in Myanmar and you wonder why they are picking on Iran. I’m sure that’s exactly what they are thinking. They allow people access to satellite television, the internet, and they don’t rape and murder people wily-nily yet here they are getting all this criticism. It’s really quite unfair and it leaves them with a very vague idea of where the line if drawn.”

Iranian officials were reportedly very despondent over the statement.mahmoud ahmadinejad smiling

“This is an age old problem. You take the people who are important to you to task over things that you ignore in others. Perhaps it isn’t fair but that doesn’t mean it is any less true. The question has to be who is the example and what is the bottom line,” continued Hander. “Obviously Iran wants to go as low as they can and it appears that many countries feel they have gone a little too low but that still makes it difficult for them. Hopefully those countries will give them some kind of framework and not just use this to kind of show their moral superiority. That doesn’t help anyone.”

Norway, the principle behind the statement, did not return requests for comment.
