POLAND COOKING UP SOMETHING FOR MUSLIM IMMIGRANTS

May 26 2010

Warsaw, Poland – Religious and ethnic intolerance has existed for as long as humankind itself. From the times when we first began sorting into tribes to the modern day there has always been groups opposing one another and bound together holocaust
by hatred and intolerance. Because issues like religion and ethnicity are bound to us much more profoundly than things such as citizenships or social statuses they tend to bring a lot more anger and oftentimes a lot more bloodshed. The history of nations all across the world have been coloured by such conflicts and they show no signs of abating as we go forward.

Though it was far from the first time that a minority suffered brutally under the shadow of a totalitarian regime, the persecution of the Jews and the Holocaust are perhaps the most dynamic example of such behaviour. The death of six million ethnic Jews and millions more of varying backgrounds stands as perhaps the best example of man’s brutality to man and the place that best personified that event was Poland which saw the deaths of three million Jews. Keenly aware of that history the people of Poland are now being faced with a new ethnic challenge with the surging influx of Muslim immigrants into the country. With protestors taking to the streets the spectre of the darkest days of the nation have begun to rear its ugly head, but the government has already cooking up a plan for their new residents.poland

“This is a situation where we need to be extraordinarily careful. There are a lot of harsh feelings and a lot of very genuine concerns about civil liberties and religious freedom, which is guaranteed by law in Poland,” said a spokesperson for the Warsaw city government. “There are very few Muslims currently in our country and because of that we need to ensure that their rights are not being trampled upon, yet we need to be aware of the public sentiment as well. This is a very careful balancing act but we have a plan on the burner to resolve these issues.”

Poland has approximately 30,000 Muslims in the country of 38 million.

“There’s certainly a great deal of blood on the hands of the Polish people and so they wood stone oven
need to tread very carefully in this area. We aren’t talking about some long distant offence, we are talking about a situation where living people were actively involved in these events and that gives the entire thing a totally different patina,” said Scrape TV International analyst Gustav Hander. “They are certainly going to have let this percolate because if they act too rashly they could very well scorch a new scar on the nation and that is the last thing anyone wants. The events of the Holocaust are long in the past but they are a scalding reminder of what can happen to a minority when the majority deems them lesser people.”

The bulk of the protests have come over the building of new mosques in the country, something that has been a volatile political issue throughout Europe.fire

“The heat is really on them to resolve this situation effectively. The simmering tensions that are omnipresent not only in Europe but throughout the world could boil over and cause problems for everyone, but if they resolve it effectively the opposite could be true,” continued Hander. “Poland will not solve the problem all by themselves but they could help to stem the tide, to stop things from boiling over and scalding the rest of Eastern Europe at the very least. Hopefully they can turn down the temperature and keep the pressure from boiling over completely.”
