TONY BLAIR MEMOIR INCLUDES LINES FROM DIE HARD, STAR WARS

September 9 2010

London, U.K. – Achieving the head political office and holding for a number of years is a major accomplishment in any country. In some countries though it is far more than deserving of a pat on the back, it is the stuff of legend. Because of her history, winston churchill cigar
The United Kingdom inevitably creates such men and women of legend whether or not they actually deserve that status. Centuries of conquest and global prominence have quite rightly earned the country the right to claim itself as one of the most important, and for her leaders to claim the same.

Though he was one of the longest serving Prime Ministers in the history of the country, it is unlikely that Tony Blair will go down as one of her greats. When he first took office in 1997, Blair was heralded as a new generation for Britain, the British JFK. As time went though attitudes started to change and eventually Blair slinked out of office amid scandals and broken promises. Still, he was Prime Minister and thus has stories to tell, many of which he is telling in his new memoir ‘A Journey: My Political Life’. However like his reign, the book is coming under criticism for embellished details, most notably his use of quotes from films that he now claims as his own. The first such claim was a line from a movie depicting the man himself, but subsequent claims have started to illustrate quotes from movies heroes such as Luke Skywalker and John McClane.tony blair

“These accusations are merely mudslinging efforts, attempts for certain people to direct attention to their Netflix queue. Nothing in this book is a work of fiction. It is an honest depiction of the life and hard times of the Prime Minister of a great nation,” said a spokesperson for book publisher Knopf. “I think Mr. Blair remembers his life better than anyone and these silly accusations cast a pale shadow over what a great accomplishment this book, and this life, has been.”

Peter Morgan, screenwriter for ‘The Queen’ noted that a line lifted directly from his screenplay has appeared in the book. The line was manufactured for the film. Since then the other accusations have started to arise.

“The one that really stands out is in relating a conversation he had with George Bush luke skywalker darth vader
during the early days of the war on terror. ‘I feel the conflict within you. Let go of your hate’ was the line which is a part of the dialogue between Luke and Darth Vader during the final lightsaber scene in ‘Return of the Jedi’,” said Scrape TV Literary analyst Samuel Lee. “There were a few others that had been turned a little bit but there was this whole long section where he went on and on about Roy Rogers and hinted at this difficult time he had spent in Los Angeles a few years back and this crazy German guy he met. I mean that was ‘Die Hard’, that was basically the plot of the movie.”

Blair has stated in the past that he is a big movie fan.die hard

“It could very well be that he’s just remembering his life through movie quotes or it could be that he’s lived this entire double life that few people were privy to. I mean I doubt he was out fighting some malevolent galactic empire, I mean we would have heard about that, but perhaps some situations just had a kind of synergy with the movie world,” continued Lee. “I think people will be poring over this book in the coming weeks to try and glean all the different references he makes. I guess we will all just have to wonder if this is how he lives his life normally.”

When asked about the controversy, Blair responded “Come! We will bring him to his knees!” which is a line spoken by General Zod in ‘Superman II’.
