UNITED STATES DECLARES WAR ON THE PHILIPPINES

September 26 2010

Manila, Philippines – It wasn’t supposed to end this way. That’s the case with war. War exists despite our best efforts to prevent it, it exists in the dark corners of unintentional offence and unwarranted aggression. Warranted or not, war exists us philippine war
despite our intentions and our desires to live in peace and comfort. Like many conflicts before it, the newest one between the United States and the Philippines will likely be remembered for that one fateful day in September of 2010 when the most powerful country in the world declared war on another poor country.

The offence took place during what was intended as a positive meeting between the leaders of multiple Southeast Asian countries and President Obama, however a seemingly innocent mistake has now spawned a conflict between the two nations. At the heart of the conflict is the placing of the Philippine flag upside down, a symbol that the nation is at war. A picture of Presidents Benigno Aquino II and Obama seated in front of that symbol of conflict spread around the world, and has now spawned into an international conflict. With U.S. bases in the Philippines already being shuttered, the government of that country has begun arming civilians and rationing supplies in anticipation of a U.S. strike which could come at any moment.

“It’s a tense atmosphere here. Not panicked, not yet, but the tension is palpable. us soldiers
People are flinching at any loud sounds and you can see the way they are starting to hoard supplies. People are walking around with wheelbarrows filled with food and the markets are pretty much barren. Individuals are walking around with rifles and pistols, presumably to protect their own supplies from poachers,” said Scrape TV South Asian Field correspondent Arturo Lam.  “This is really a shock for most people here as they believed that the country had good relations with the United States. A lot of people are very perturbed by the whole things by most are just preparing for the worst, preparing for the onslaught.”

The United States has held bases in the country since the late 19th century.

“People are asking why the United States has done this, mostly children who are perhaps the most frightened of all the people. They simply don’t understand why they philippines kids
are being kept from school and from playing with their friends. Like in every war it is they who will suffer the most in the long run and they who will carry the long and deep scars that the war will inevitably create,” continued Lam. “Already the streets have started to empty. All across the country major cities are barren with most people hunkered down waiting for the initial attack. The Philippine people have been here before, they have fought and won against the American forces and they will be more than willing to fight again, but that does not diminish the horror and death that is about to be visited on the people of this beautiful country.”

More than a million people died during the Philippine-American War which was waged between 1899 and 1902.

“This seems like a totally out of the blue event but it has likely been on the books for philippine war dead
a long time. The Philippines has always been a strategically valuable placement for the United States and it is even more so given the growing power of China and other countries in the region. Combine that with growing self reliance of the Philippines and you have the perfect formula for war,” said Scrape TV International analyst Gustav Hander. “The bigger question isn’t why, but how long, how long will the Americans be able to hold out and how many people will die in the process. One also has to wonder how this will impact the elections which will be happening shortly. Frankly, it’s probably little too late for the Democrats, and the Philippine people.”

Thousands are expected to die in the initial conflict and hundreds of thousands likely to succumb over the next ten years of the war.
