BERLUSCONI UNDERGOES FACIAL SURGERY IN EFFORT TO ESCAPE SEX SCANDAL
March 9 2011
Milan, Italy – Being in the public eye always means that you are under a great deal of scrutiny. Whether a person is famous because they want to be, or simply because fate and circumstance put them in that position the reality is that the world changes.
Everything that a person has done and everything a person does suddenly comes under a different light in the face of fame and notoriety and has to change the way in which those people conduct their day-to-day business.
That is especially true for people in positions of trust. Unlike celebrities, whose antics can frequently buoy their status, people in positions of power are usually undone by their personal eccentricities. Whether it is personal indiscretions such as sexual escapades or more sever issues such as prejudice or embezzlement, politicians and others in whom people place their faith and good will are put under a much harsher spotlight than even the most famous. Sensibly, those who suffer the greatest scrutiny are those in the highest corridors of power. Presidents and Prime Ministers are not only the most scrutinized but also the people held to the highest standards, and when they fall afoul of those expectations, their collapse is often precipitous. While there are many in that position right now around the world, it is Silvio Berlusconi who perhaps has the most to lose in his ongoing sex scandal, which is perhaps why he elected to undergo extensive facial surgery in an effort to avoid further difficulties.
“The Prime Minister did indeed undergo facial surgery yesterday. This operation was to restore some of the function as a result of the assault laid against him in 2009. The surgery took about four hours and was very successful,” said a government spokesperson. “Following the assault Mr. Berlusconi suffered both functional and aesthetic damage to his face which has been repaired almost completely. He is recovering at home and will be back on the job in a very short amount of time.”
Berlusconi was assaulted with a commemorative statue following a political rally in 2009 leaving him with a broken nose and teeth, all of which had already been repaired.
“This surgery will restore Mr. Berlusconi to his rightful place amongst the Italian people, to man he once was and the man all people in the country expect him to be. This was a terrible event just as many things have been terrible events in his life of late, but this puts an end to this all future concerns. This is a great day for the Prime Minister and for all the people of Italia,” continued the spokesperson. “Now he will get back to the job of running the country just as he has done for so many years, now without any kind of further distraction. This is the end of these harsh times and it is a period in which the country can move forward in the ways in which it should.”
Berlusconi has been under fire for having sex with an underage girl and attempting to cover up that affair using his presidential power. It’s believed unlikely that any facial surgery will halt the investigation of that scandal.
“We hear stories and see in movies these tales of people undergoing plastic surgery in an effort to evade the law but I have never heard of a case where that has really happened. It just seems like a totally ridiculous thing and the truth is the people with the money for that surgery would have the money to get away in a different manner, still it’s a fun story,” said Scrape TV Political analyst Gabriel Kinsey. “That said, if one were to do it they would also have to change their name and likely get a new job. Changing your face is not going make the problems go away all by itself, other changes would have to be made. I can certainly see why he would want these issues to go away but getting surgery to look like a different person isn’t going to make that happen. Berlusconi is going to have to understand that he’s going to have to deal with these issues one way or the other but if he does want to get away, well he’ll have to probably change his job too.”
Early reports indicate that the Prime Minister looks years younger, prompting concerns that he may get himself into further trouble.
