GRISLY DISCOVERIES REVEAL THAT MOST OF JAPAN’S ELDERLY ARE ALREADY DEAD

February 19 2011

Tokyo, Japan – Most cultures throughout history have held a special honour for the elderly. Whether it is due to their perceived wisdom or merely as an act of wish fulfillment for people who have not yet reached such a stage in life, the perception has old man running marathon
been retained in modern cultures despite diminishing faith in the reality of such perceptions. There is perhaps no better example of that than in Japan which has retained virtually all of that reverence for the elderly despite being one of the most advanced nations on the planet.

That type of reverence has led to a remarkably high life expectation throughout the country, due in large part to the large number of centenarians across the country which has raised the life expectancy to the highest in the world. However new revelations have cast a dark cloud across the country and their remarkably high life expectancy. Discoveries of as many as two hundred bodies of people listed as living centenarians has cast a serious doubt on not only the respect the country has for the elderly, but also on the veracity of their health and medical system which has long been held as one of the best in the world. With police investigations just beginning, it’s unclear just how far the overall life expectancy across the country will drop.wise old man

“In one case we found the mummified corpse of a man believed to be 111 years old. He was kept in an apartment for thirty years. In another case we found the remains of a woman believed to be 104 but she had actually died ten years ago and been stuffed in a backpack. We believe that most of these cases are a result of people seeking continued pensions but they have frightening implications,” said a police spokesperson. “We are very proud of our elderly and we not only want them to be safe but we also want to protect our reputation. That is something that is now in peril by these revelations and these issues will be investigated thoroughly.”

Japan currently has 40,000 people registered as over 100 years old.old japanese woman

“In country of 130 million you are going to have to expect a few bad seeds and that is likely what is going on here. In most of these cases it appears that it is family members holding onto the remains for some kind of personal gain and not the more disturbing of the other options, namely that they are trying to artificially boost their life expectancy,” said Scrape TV Asian analyst Wu Yao-nu. “Such a thing would be a major blow to the perception of the country as a whole. Women in particular have thrived in Japanese society with the highest survival rate in the world, by a long shot. However that will take a major blow if it’s discovered that many of them have been surviving in name only. It’s very hard as people know to breathe inside backpacks.”tomoji tanabe

Most widely available backpacks in Japan are made of breathable material but are not designed for human habitation.

“I mean there’s really no advantage to boosting the life expectancy but it is a pride issue. I suppose things like standard of living could affect credit ratings and the like but Japan has a whole host of other issues that a few extra old people simply aren’t going to help. Frankly, they’d probably be better off getting rid of a few of the older ones,” continued Wu. “This though could be a major blow to the pride of the Japanese people. They don’t take well to being embarrassed, at least not in situations where there is nothing they can do. They aren’t really a people you want to upset frankly.”

Even with the handful of dead elderly the population of the country is aging rapidly meaning that any threat could easily be fought off with the threat of retirement homes.
