INVESTIGATORS FIND JAWBONE NOT THAT OF NATALEE HOLLOWAY, TOSS IT BACK

November 24 2010

Oranjestad, Aruba – There can be no greater trauma for a parent than the loss of a child. While that process is unfortunately played out over and over again throughout the world on a daily basis, that does not mitigate the suffering that each individual natalee holloway smiling
experiences when such a tragedy occurs. The horror and seemingly unending sorrow that accompanies such incidents is only amplified when the loss occurs as a result of something as salacious as murder, and even more so when the crime goes unsolved.

Such an experience is something the family of Natalee Holloway have been enduring for the last five years following her disappearance one night in 2005. That case has of course not been simply a private trauma for the family. The investigation has led to multiple suspects, spanned multiple countries, and possibly involved the murder of one other young woman. Unfortunately all that attention has done little to ease the pain of the parents who are still without answers as to what exactly happened to their daughter. Late last week new hope arrived in tragic form. The discovery of a human jawbone gave hope to all involved that the case may finally be solved, but with testing now showing that the bone is in fact not that of Holloway’s the investigation is again at a standstill, and the jawbone has been tossed back to where it was found.human jawbone

“We have compared the single tooth on the jawbone with the dental records provided by the Holloway family and it can be ruled out that the bone fragment came from Natalee Holloway. The bone is definitely human but it does not belong to Ms. Holloway,” said a spokesperson for the prosecutor’s office. “This is of course saddening and frustrating for everyone involved in this case. It would give us no greater pleasure than to give peace to the Holloway’s and help end this long nightmare they have been forced to endure. We do not know to whom this bone belongs but we have placed it back where it was found, as measure of respect for the dead.”

Holloway’s parents have apparently accepted the conclusion that the bone does not belong to their daughter.aruba beach

“This is really a traumatic situation for all kinds of reasons. Normally when children go missing or are murdered the case is hardly even noticed. I mean with young children it’s often a big deal, but this was an eighteen year old woman and so the fact that it has stuck in the public imagination in this way really speaks to its power,” said Scrape TV Legal analyst Gabe Hawthorne. “I mean she was young and blonde and pretty so it would automatically generate a lot of attention but the mere fact that it has been able to persist for so long is something really remarkable. There is of course no real positive end to this but if this had been her jaw then the family would have at least had closure.”

The jawbone is still believed to have belonged to a woman in her late teens or early twenties.joran van der sloot

“Normally finding a jawbone laying around would be cause for concern but this is nothing totally unusual in Aruba. There are any number of reasons for jawbones to wash up on shore but because they are in the spotlight things like this take on different level of attention,” continued Hawthorne. “On any given day you can walk along a beach in Aruba and find all kinds of body parts. It’s hard for people to understand but these things are common and they simply don’t have the time to investigate every single one. Holloway is a special case but her situation does not translate to anyone else.”

The chief suspect in Holloway’s disappearance, Joran van der Sloot, denies having had anything to do with the jawbone.
