KATE MIDDLETON STAYING OUT OF PARIS FOLLOWING ENGAGEMENT TO PRINCE WILLIAM
November 16 2010
London, U.K. – For most people monarchies are a thing of the past, the remnants of a long lost time that is really not relevant in the modern world. While monarchies certainly do exist throughout the world, the vast majority of countries have
abandoned them as systems of governance in favour of more modern systems. Even in many of those countries royal families continue to exist and for a few of them, continue to drive the identity of the country even without any real political power.
Undeniably the biggest of those figurehead monarchies is the one of United Kingdom.Possessing all the glitz and glamour that the family has always had, the British Royal family has been a source of intrigue and adoration for people all over the world. Likely because of the enormous influence the country has had across the globe, the Windsor’s have long compelled royal watchers and subject alike. That is likely to only grow in the coming months following the long awaited engagement of Prince William and Kate Middleton, the eventual heirs to the throne. While being greeted with applause from virtually everyone, there is apparently a great deal of trepidation amongst inner circles, particularly after William gave his mother’s engagement ring to

his new fiancée, a ring that was removed only a year before Princess Diana was killed in a Paris tunnel.
“It's my mother's enagagment ring, so of course it's very special to me, and Kate's now very special to me, so it was only right to put the two together. It was the right time and I'm very glad to have done it,” said Prince William in a statement. “We had spoken about our future. It just seemed a natural step for both of us”
The ring is a large sapphire surrounded by diamonds.
“Everyone is very excited about the engagement especially because it took so long to come about, but everyone is understandably a little nervous. It’s not just the
marriage that has people on edge, it’s the associations with his mother that are causing a little bit of tension,” said a royal insider. “The ring thing is really the big problem. Everyone understands that Will was young when his mother died and that it was very traumatizing but there is this notion in the house that he has yet to let go, and that is something he really needs to do. Aside from that, everyone really likes Kate and they don’t want to see her end up like Diana.”
Diana ended up in car wreck on a Paris street in August of 1997. Kate, like Diana, reportedly prefers a chauffeur.
“It’s a beautiful ring to be sure but it’s also a little creepy considering how things ended up. Obviously everyone s fearing a similar demise, but one also has to remember that the marriage between Will’s parents was a bad one and that ring was the start of that. Ultimately, that ring ended up killing her in that tunnel, in a roundabout way,”
continued the insider. “It would be going too far to say that the ring is cursed by there is a really strong association with these dark events. If it were possible to have a cursed ring, or for a ring to become cursed through its experiences, then this would be the ring to do it. As beautiful as it is and as potent as his intentions, it’s entirely possible that this thing will backfire and end up in a lot of heartbreak, something Will simply doesn’t need any more of in his life.”
A former flame of William’s, named only Daphne, is reportedly very much in favour of the ring.
