LEONARDO DICAPRIO BRUSHES OFF ADVANCES FROM VLADIMIR PUTIN DURING RUSSIAN VISIT

Moscow, Russia – There is a kind of affection that can build between men that is totally foreign to outside observers, a kind of camaraderie that is totally beyond the capacity of the fairer gender to comprehend. As much of a mystery as women are to 
men, that relationship between two guys is as confusing and frustrating, whether it’s drinks while watching a UFC fight or simply chilling in the man cave, there is a kind of casually intimacy between men that is almost intangible and totally elusive.
Sometimes as well those relationships come as a shock to outsiders, occurring between two people one would never have imagined would have had anything in common. Though there are many examples of such relationships – perhaps the friendship between zombie-guru George A. Romero and Fred ‘Mister’ Rogers being the most unusual – the essential components, the core elements of the relationship, between two men remains relatively constant no matter the pairing. It’s certainly easy to see how men of power and influence would be compelling potential man partners and in the case of two major players such as Leonardo DiCaprio and Vladimir Putin it’s likely any man would be interested in a bromance, no matter how limited. However after a brief meeting between those two it appears that one party, Putin, has a little more interest in such a relationship after he was more or less brushed off by the ‘Inception’ star.
“I would like to thank you for coming despite all the obstacles. A person with less stable nerves could have decided against coming, could have read it as a sign -- that it was not worth going,” said Putin upon meeting the star, whose plane was delayed after an emergency landing. “He has literally torn his way through to Saint Petersburg. In our country, they have a saying -- a real man. He is a real man for his persistence. You will get to know Saint Petersburg tomorrow and grow proud of your Russian roots.”
Two of DiCaprio’s late grandparents were of Russian descent. He was visiting the country for a summit on tigers in St. Petersburg. 
“Leo was thrilled to finally land and to have this opportunity to discuss this dire situation. As you know, environmental concerns are very near and dear to Leo’s heart and this particular situation has struck a chord with him. Leo is thrilled to be a position to be able to travel around the world and support causes that he believes in so deeply,” said a spokesperson for the actor. “His meeting with Prime Minister Putin was very warm and cordial. Leo is thrilled that the PM is as excited about this cause as he is. Mr. Putin showed his great passion for this cause and that is the type of enthusiasm that Leo shares. Unfortunately he was not able to make a private meeting with the Prime Minister but is very much looking forward to the conference and all the good he believes it will do.”
DiCaprio, who will be in the country for a few days, pledged one million dollars to the preservation of the St. Petersburg tigers.
“For so many of us who have watched DiCaprio grow up onscreen the notion that he has become a really good man, a really good person and someone compelling to be around is inescapable. You see it in his movies and in his personal beliefs and causes,” said Scrape TV Entertainment analyst Tracey Temple. “I’m sure Prime Minister Putin feels very much the same way. DiCaprio’s star began to rise just as the Iron Curtain began to fall and so I’m sure he feels very much the same way. He’s watched this kid grow into a confident and respectful young man and I’m sure that has to be a very compelling thing to want to be a part of. DiCaprio though is obviously a very busy guy, though I’m sure he would have no objection to hanging out with Putin, time allowing.”
‘Inception’ was a huge global hit but had particular success in Russia due in large part to Putin’s personal support of the film which included appearances at screenings and a month long stretch wearing a shirt featuring the film’s stars.
