MOSSAD DEMANDS RETURN OF CAPTURED SPY VULTURE

January 6 2011

Jerusalem, Israel – When James Bond first appeared on movies screens in 1962 he opened up an entirely new world for film fans and adventure seekers. The exploits of Bond and his nefarious villains were of course drawn more from adventure serials than roger moor james bond
real espionage events, but it was that fantasy element that really grabbed audiences and helped bring the spy into the common lexicon. While underwater cars and laser watches are very much still, and likely always will be, firmly in the realm of fantasy many of the gadgets and ridiculous scenarios depicted in those films are actually not far off from reality.

Because of the nature of espionage many of those scenarios are of course very much still a secret but tales of secret poisonings and mysterious disappearances are very much rooted in reality. Spydom though has declined in recent years, particularly since the demise of the Soviet Union. Though the practice is still very active, much of the mystique has been stripped away, until recently at least. A series of events in the Middle East has once again brought the old image of espionage to the forefront as word of trained animals, including squirrels, sharks, and most recently vultures being used by the Mossad to reveal the enemies of Israel.vulture

“We can confirm that we have arrested a detained a potential spy that had flown into our airspace from Israel. This individual is currently being questioned and investigated by our officials and we will determine what exactly were his motives and who it was that sent him into the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia,” said a spokesperson for the Saudi government. “These types of actions are fully unacceptable. The sending of spies into a sovereign nation is reprehensible no matter the nature of the spy. We will not accept any such actions in our borders whether the actions are conducted by human beings or, as in this case, birds. We will uncover these actions and deal with them appropriately.”

The vulture was captured after wandering into Saudi territory late Tuesday.

“We steadfastly deny that this bird was a part of any type of spy program. It was vulture
released as a part of a study on the breeding and migration patterns of these animals throughout the region. The bird was tagged with special equipment to catalogue such movements and was released by the University of Tel Aviv late last year,” said a spokesperson for the Israeli government. “This bird is innocent of all these accusations and we demand that it be released, unharmed, immediately. Any actions against this bird are unacceptable and would be considered an action against the state of Israel. This vulture originated in our country and it should be returned to Israel without delay. The government of Saudi Arabia has no cause to hold this bird and we demand its immediate release.”

Recent reports have indicated large vulture populations congregating in the Tel Aviv area as well as a walrus build-up in the port city of Haifa in the north.vulture

“This whole story may seem a little ridiculous but the history of espionage is filled with attempts to use animals. Monkeys are common. The U.S. attempted to train dolphins to disarm bombs and no one will forget the Dutch elephant experiment which of course ended so tragically for so many people,” said Scrape TV Middle East analyst David Gershwin. “I think it’s unlikely the shark attacks last month were orchestrated by Israel, but the squirrels in Iran are well documented. I wouldn’t say that trained vultures are out the realm of possibility but of course Israel will deny it. If they don’t a lot of innocent birds could be caught in the crossfire.”

Mossad agents were reportedly spotted in Tanzania negotiating for a major lion purchase but left empty handed.
