MOST QUEBECERS EMBRACE EUTHANASIA; REST OF CANADA HAS NO PROBLEM WITH THAT

December 12 2010

Montreal, Canada – Canada may not be the most interesting place, it may not boast ancient history or wild nightlife, but its history has nonetheless provided it with one of the most unique cultures in the world. Inherently, the country much like its sibling the canada beaver
United States is a nation of immigrants. Virtually everywhere you go someone is from somewhere. Unlike the Old World, personal identity is often decided by some distant country of origin rather than the land upon which people place their feet.

That has helped to engage a diverse and multicultural society, filled with people of all sorts of dispositions and attitudes. Multiculturalism though is at the core of the country and the people in it. Beyond the modern history of immigration, the basic nature of the country, with two diverse cultures and languages, has embedded it with the core principles of a diverse society. As is often the case however that diversity has caused problems and head knocking throughout the years, and though many of those problems have subsided recently, there is still frequently a tension between French and English Canada. However, a new poll may put an end to that with the revelation that 8 out of 10 Quebecers support euthanasia, something the rest of the country is not only supportive of, but also willing to aid the province in embracing.euthanasia

“These are quite remarkable numbers. Nowhere in the civilised world have we have seen these levels of support for the process of euthanasia amongst humans. It is also interesting to note that these numbers come from a wide and diverse group of people, but that there is a sharp divide between English and French speaking people,” said a spokesperson for Centre de recherche d'opinion publique which conducted the survey. “Thirteen percent of Francophones oppose euthanasia while thirty percent of Anglophones oppose it, something we never imagined would have made a difference. It is clear now that these attitudes towards the procedure is very much divided along cultural lines.”

The bulk of the population in the province of Quebec is Catholic, furthering complicating the data. needle and vial

“What we have also found is that this data does correlate with polls in other provinces which for some reason have greater support for euthanasia in Quebec than they do in their own province. This was not a question asked in Quebec but I’m sure the levels of support would be similar as to what they are domestically,” continued the spokesperson. “Obviously there are great cultural and social forces at work here but what they are we cannot determine at this moment. It is clear that support across the country is very similar at least when it comes to Quebec. This does not mean of course that the law will be passed into place but it does mean that in this province at the very least there will be little objection to such an action.”montreal olympic stadium

Albertans was apparently at nearly one hundred percent support for euthanasia in Quebec compared to forty-two percent for their own province.

“This growing attitude towards the acceptance of euthanasia is hardly a surprise. As populations age old ideas of what is right and wrong, what is morally acceptable or corrupt, change dramatically and that is what we are seeing here,” said Scrape TV Health analyst Rebecca Phelps. “I think in the coming years we will start to see similar levels of support throughout much of the advanced world. It is unusual that attitudes are so diverse across Canada, though that may be a statistical anomaly. It just doesn’t make sense to support something like euthanasia for others but not for yourself. That just has to be an off number.”

Suicide support is equally high for the province of Quebec from the rest of the country.
