NEW URANIUM PLANT SHOWS NORTH KOREA IS STILL BEST KOREA
November 22 2010
Pyongyang, North Korea – Through the 1950’s and 60’s the concerns of a nuclear apocalypse were not just a fear, they were a tangible reality. With the two nations that held the bulk of the world’s nuclear arsenal constantly in conflict with one
another, ready to go to war at literally any moment, the possibility of nuclear destruction was very much on the minds of ordinary people and politicians alike, with events that brought us as close to the end of the world as it has been since the end of the dinosaurs.
That obviously did not happen and nuclear technology has been largely normalized in the modern world. Providing everything from electricity to medical treatments, nuclear power has become an essential partner in day-to-day life and the thoughts of nuclear annihilation are far from the minds of the vast majority of people. However nukes still exist and they are present in more countries now than ever with destructive power that dwarfs anything that could have been dreamt of in those paranoid days. In today’s world, no matter the level of cooperation between nations, the threat of nuclear apocalypse is more real than ever. Most people assume that the principle threat comes from one country in particular, and with the revelation of a new uranium enriching plant in North Korea that country has proven itself as a major world player, and that it is still the better of the two Koreas.
“This is a major step in the advancement of the North Korean nuclear program. This new facility appears to be running at least 2000 centrifuges and could be used for rapidly increasing the nuclear arsenal of the country,” said a State Department spokesperson. “This is also a uranium facility, uranium is far more powerful than plutonium which is what the country’s other nuclear weapons are based on. This could very well be a major escalation by the government of North Korea for reasons that simply are not clear as yet.”
Many in the State Department are assuming that the new facility is to be used as bargaining chip in negotiations with the United States, though others are sceptical of that theory.
“My guess, frankly, is that this has more to do with the succession of Kim Jung-un

than anything else. They are in the process of repositioning the country and its standing in the world and this advance is a major step in that direction,” said a State Department insider. “Ultimately, the biggest challenge to North Korean standing and power is the South. Obviously the United States and Europe are major military and economic challenges, but it is an issue of pride that drives the conflict between the two Koreas. That above anything else drives the philosophy of the regime. They are determined to show the South that all their wealth, culture, sophistication, and global good will means little and North Korea is the better of the two Koreas.”
A guess, traditionally, is only loosely based in facts and should not be taken as truth.
“This is undoubtedly a major escalation in the region. Whether or not they build devices or they are simply using this to show that they are capable of enriching uranium is something that we will have to wait and see,” said Scrape TV North Korean analyst Lee Joo-Chan. “However they seem bound and determined to out-do the South and I’m afraid that as the fortunes there rise, the escalation from the North will only increase. Personally I feel that South Korea is best Korea, but maybe eventually they will be able to change my mind. The North certainly has a lot of attractive ladies, I’ll give them that.”
South Korea has no nuclear enrichment facilities, but the recent re-release of ‘Back to the Future’ did draw high numbers.
