TURKEY RETHINKING POSITION ON ARMENIAN GENOCIDE AFTER TONGUE LASHING FROM KIM KARDASHIAN

December 26 2010

Ankara, Turkey – Celebrity has always held a great deal of power. True, in today’s world it is entertainers and beauty queens who often gain the most celebrity and by association the most influence, but prominence has always meant influence. Whether hitler speaking
it was the voice of Kings, philosophers, or religious leaders the power of the bully pulpit has long held sway over the masses, something that is unlikely to change now or in the near future.

Of course having an audience and having something to say are often two different things. Frequently, particularly in today’s celebrity world, the people with a voice either say nothing or when they do speak, have little to say. Unlike those who held power in the past many of the powerful voices of today have not earned their status through great thoughts or great deliberation but rather through superficial characteristics, leaving them ill equipped to navigate and indifferent to real life issues. Of course not everyone is like that. Some celebrities dedicate a great deal of their personal time and energy to real world causes. People such as Paul Newman, Brad Pitt, Robert Redford, and Sean Penn are just a few of those who have used their voice to help change the world in some small way. Now another celebrity can be added to that list in the curvy form of Kim Kardashian whose criticismchild armenian genocide
of the Turkish government has prompted them to re-examine the long standing issue of Armenian genocide.

“Kim is very distressed by the whole situation. She has been a vocal supporter of the recognition of Armenian genocide for weeks and to have Kobe, who plays with her brother-in-law, to engage in a marketing deal with Turkish Airlines is just, well she’s very upset,” said a Kardashian insider. “She spoke to Kobe directly about the issue and he has refused to do anything about it, refused to cancel the deal, and that is really frustrating her.”

Bryant recently signed a two years deal to promote the airline.

“Kim feels very passionate about this issue. As everyone knows she is of Armenian kim kardashian
descent and so she has a very strong emotional connection to this whole situation. For these last few weeks she has really thought of little else but the genocide and has actually taken to her Twitter account to try and encourage Nancy Pelosi to support resolution 252 which would officially recognize the acts as genocide, something few countries have been willing to do,” continued the insider. “Kim recognizes that this is a difficult situation but she would really like to gain the support of as many people as she can. Having the biggest basketball star in the world step forward and proclaim his support would go a long way towards changing public opinion and helping to finally bring peace to the millions who died all those years ago.”

Anywhere from 600,000 to 1.5 million Armenian people died in the Ottoman empire between 1915 and 1918, acts which the Turkish government has refused to class as genocide. Bryant has no Armenian ancestry.kim kardashian bathing suit

“This issue has been a major issue for a long time and will only become more problematic as time goes on. Turkey is becoming a major economic and political power in the world and is uniquely positioned, in a very valuable geographical position, which gives them a lot of sway over international policy making it very touchy for other governments. As time goes, the ability to change these attitudes will only worsen,” said Scrape TV International analyst Gustav Hander. “From what I have heard these actions from Kardashian have had an impact in the Turkish parliament. Turkey is a very advanced country and though they certainly have some oppressed areas, they are all very, very aware of Kim Kardashian. There isn’t a man in the Turkish government who wouldn’t want to make her happy and that alone, no matter what Kobe does, could change the story very quickly but we will still have to wait and see.”

Older sister Kourtney supported her sister by not signing a deal to promote Turkish airlines, one of the few opportunities she has turned down.
