AMERICAN SHIPS RETURNING TO VIETNAMESE SHORES TO FINALLY FINISH THE JOB

June 15 2011

Hanoi, Vietnam – Because of her prominence and influence all over the world, the assumption has long been that United States is an indestructible machine. That the country is a powerhouse at a level no one else can compete with, and that while they vietnam war helicopter
will eventually diminish in power, for the time being there are more or less indestructible. A perusal of their economic influence, political sway, and military might would all indicate that such an assumption was correct, unless you really look at history.

Unlike great empires of the past, the United States has never been able to enforce their will on other countries. Part of that is no doubt due to a shift in the way countries work today, things such as increased infrastructure and the wide availability of firearms which makes countries much more difficult to conquer than they were even a hundred years ago. There are other factors of course, including domestic politics, but whatever the root causes, the reality is that the conflicts the United States has engaged in have not gone smoothly. Ten years in Afghanistan and Iraq and a permanent military base in South Korea both speak to the failure of U.S. wars, but one spot remains particularly sore. That spot is Vietnam which remains unto this day the lone war the United States has outright lost, and now some people are looking to correct that.

“The U.S. has a Pacific fleet and it’s been more aggressive than many other countries in trying to build closer contacts with Vietnam to counter China’s rise. I’d imagine that as these ports start to reopen they are going to be the more aggressive suitors, which probably isn’t a good thing for us,” said one Vietnamese official. “We may have vietnam war soldiers
little option however. No one here wants to see the Chinese come into the country. We have had our problems with them in the past and we aren’t keen to reignite them, but the U.S. isn’t much better and we don’t want to be in conflict with them again.”

Vietnamese officials have recently reopened Cam Ranh Bay, a major strategic base for U.S. operations in the country, to commercial interests.

“Obviously we are always looking for new and valuable strategic interests. We have an obligation to be proactive in these types of things and this situation is no different. We have to recognize the difficulties posed by China and we have to position ourselves so that we are better able to handle them if it comes to that,” said a Pentagon insider. “I can ensure you that we have no interests in the communist nation of Vietnam. They are an independent state and we respect that. We no longer have the issues with communists that we once had and we fully respect the sovereignty of other nations. We have no interest in military conflict with Vietnam. None. No interest whatsoever.”

The U.S. has reportedly opened a new training facility in rural Louisiana, which replicates the type of ground cover present in Vietnam.vietnam war village

“I’m sure that for many hawks still around the loss in that country is still a potent thing. The war has been glamorized to be sure, but that doesn’t make it a success. Great soundtrack perhaps, but it’s still a major loss and a bit of mark on the American psyche,” said Scrape TV International Conflict analyst Mario Martinez. “I’m sure there are more than a few people who would like another kick at that particular can and if they can get it, they will go after it. Being beaten is one thing, but being beaten by the school nerd is something most people can’t stomach. I’m sure they are eager for another shot.”

Many villages in Vietnam have been burnt to the ground recently, though it’s believed that is the result of bad wiring.
