BENJAMIN NETANYAHU MAKES MOVES TO RECOGNIZE PALESTINIAN STATEHOOD

June 5 2011

Jerusalem, Israel – Although it seems like it has been going on for centuries, the roots of the current Arab-Israeli conflict are actually only a little over a hundred years old. Modern Jewish migrants only began to move into the region in the late 19th palestinian conflict
century. From there they quickly established themselves as a formidable and growing population and, through the strange march of history, eventually came to take back much of the land that their ancestors had departed more than 2000 years previous.

Of course, there was already people living there, and that is what has caused most of the problems. No matter how far back it goes and no matter how the various parties try to put a historical spin on the issues, the reality is what it is. There is no magic switch which will turn back time and be able to make everyone happy, happiness will simply have to be found in a new arrangement. For the last few years that is exactly what many people on both sides have genuinely been trying to do, to affect some kind of resolution which will benefit both sides. There have been dramas to be sure, but both sides have continued to speak which unto itself is quite remarkable. Now, with a vote on global recognition of a Palestinian state only months away the conflict may finally be at an end, particularly as a result of the support of Benjamin Netanyahu who has pledged his support for statehood.

“No one has the power to stop the decision to recognize a Palestinian state in the UN General Assembly in September. It can also be possible to make the decision there that the world is flat,” Netanyahu said last week. “We have no way to obstruct the UN decision. It is impossible to recognize a Palestinian state without passing through the Security Council and such a move is bound to fail. However there are conditions under which we would accept such an eventuality.”israel palestine tank

Officially Israel believes the world is round, though Netanyahu, the country’s Prime Minister, has expressed doubt about that, though has also stated that he would accept it given certain guarantees.

“There are certain things which need to happen before other things can happen. I realize that sounds vague, but it’s the truth. It’s always an awkward position to promote something or someone before they are ready, but you can never really know they are ready until they are put into the position. It’s a challenge figuring these things out,” said Scrape TV International analyst Gustav Hander. “There are certain things with which the Palestinians are not much good, but would they be better if they had a state in hand? That is the unknown and something which cannot really be known until it happens. Up until that point it is just an educated guess. Luckily the Palestinians do have a lot of support, including this from the Israeli leadership.”

Shimon Peres, the country’s President, has long been a supporter of Palestinian statehood.benjamin netanyahu strong

“Much like the world being flat there have to be conditions under which statehood is established, just as there was when Israel was created. Things like maintaining borders, preventing attacks against neighbours, and not making efforts to radicalize the population, something with which Israel has succeeded so effectively,” continued Hander. “In order for the world to be round you need to travel it. You can’t look at a globe and see that it is round, you must put forth the effort and prove that it is so. Simply stating a fact does not make it so, you have to put your money where your mouth is so-to-speak and that is what the Palestinians must do to win full support from the Israeli leadership.”

Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas reportedly does believe the world is round and has repeatedly said in the past that he doesn’t need to prove that to anyone.
