BIN LADEN HOME MOVIES SHOW SOFTER SIDE TO TERRORIST LEADER
May 7 2011
Washington, D.C. – In many ways the life and career of Osama bin Laden has been defined by video. The events of 9/11 are easily the most recorded and replayed national traumas in U.S. history, being documented almost from the beginning to the

tragic end. Following that event, each recording from the Al-Qaeda leader was amongst the most anticipated and debated of modern recordings, arguably more important than even celebrity sex tapes or the latest Lady Gaga video. Bin Laden’s life work has been maybe the best documented in modern times.
Now, a new dimension may bring fresh insight into the personal life of one of the most visible people in the world with the release of bin Laden’s home videos which were seized from the compound where he spent the last half decade. Those videos, just a small portion of the material seized from the sprawling family home, detail the private life of bin Laden and his family, something which despite his prominence across the planet, had been very much a mystery. Now though the release of the videos may add new insight into one of the most famous men on the planet, and perhaps even show a softer side to one of the most hated people in the history of the world.
“Much of this footage is uninteresting from a national security perspective but they do provide an insight into what life was like in the bin Laden home. By releasing these videos we hope to show how the leadership of this organization are living, and that
they aren’t all living in caves and commanding their forces,” said a government insider. “We hope that will take some of the allure out of the lifestyle and potentially prompt people to investigate their neighbours a little more carefully. We want people to see what life is really like for these terrorist leaders, that it isn’t all command by firelight and plotting destruction of the decadent west from cave mouths.”
Amongst other surprises found on the bin Laden homestead were marijuana plants and a cornucopia of Coke and Pepsi memorabilia.
“It is exceedingly rare to see videos like this, videos that show the intimate personal lives of prominent people. I mean you see normal people putting their videos on YouTube and things like that, but it is unheard of to see this kind of thing with such famous people,” said Scrape TV Terrorism analyst Doug Davids. “There is little doubt that this will impact Al-Qaeda, not so much the leadership, but the followers. Seeing how life can be when you move up through the organization will motivate a lot of young Turks , I mean obviously the ones who don’t blow themselves up. I mean it is unlikely that there will be another bin Laden, but it is human nature to lust after the impossible. By seeing how bin Laden lived, all those young terrorists can dream of living in a million dollar estate even if most of them never will.”
Officials have not revealed what exactly the tapes show.
“The tapes could also help heal the rift between western people and the Muslim world by providing a human face to the terrorists who hate them so much. Maybe, if we’re lucky, people will be able to see that the only reason they hate us so much and blow things up is for their children, just like everyone else,” continued Davids. “That won’t heal all the wounds that the world has endured in the last decade or so, but it could start things moving in that direction, hopefully to a positive end.”
At least one tape apparently shows bin Laden engaging a young child in a game of grenade toss.
