JAPAN STILL ROCKIN’ AND ROLLIN’ RECOVERY EFFORT

April 8 2011

Tokyo, Japan – The Earth is a volatile place, something we tend to forget most of the time. Though our little blue marble is easily to most stable planet in the solar system, making it the only one capable of supporting complex life as far as we know, planet earth
it is not the utopia we would like. Despite our massive technological advances and understanding of the natural world, we are still very much at the mercy of the planet and its eccentricities, something unlikely to ever change.

Aside from dangerous weather patterns, perhaps the greatest danger to human life is the instability of the planet itself, the shifting tectonic plates and boiling magma just beneath our feet. As shown in the massive Japanese earthquake last month which rocked the most prepared nation on the planet killing thousands, no matter our preparation and no matter our cleverness, the Earth still seems to find a way to show us that it is really the boss. We, however, are no pushovers and as the people of Japan and the world have been showing in the last few weeks we are more than prepared and willing to fight the effects of nature and overcome the greatest of obstacles. That tenacity was put to a major test on Thursday when another major quake rocked the north of Japan, but despite the scare officials remained determined to keep rocking and rolling the recovery effort in the country.earthquake damage

“This was a major aftershock but we want to ensure the people of the country that we are indeed safe. There was a limited tsunami and some minor damage as a result of this aftershock but we are still very much on track with recovery,” said a government official. “We have been expecting these types of events following the quake last month and we are prepared to deal with such events. We want to ensure the people across the north of the country that we are still very much behind you.”

The 7.1 magnitude quake created a one metre tsunami wave and reportedly killed 4 people.japanese earthquake damage

“We as a nation have faced many great challenges in our time and we have overcome them all, just as we will do with these challenges facing us today. There is no hesitation amongst the government or the people of Japan. We will overcome these events and become stronger for the challenge,” continued the spokesperson. “There will be many more of these aftershocks but they are simply a reminder of how determined we have become. The people of Japan have banded together to overcome this crisis and that is exactly what we will do. This is a trying time but it is also a time of great wealth and happiness for our people and something which will make us better. No matter the challenges, we will rebuild. Your strength and will should not be shaken.”

Other minor disruptions resulting from the aftershock include spillage of nuclear waste water and a lot of broken vases and plates, some of which will never be replaced.tsunami

“These kinds of aftershocks are going to happen, for months and potentially years. This is the nature of earthquakes and while people are going to of course be a little jumpy they can’t let it get to them too much. The recovery has to go on alongside these quakes otherwise it will never get done,” said Scrape TV Science analyst Dr. Howard Poe. “Aftershocks are common and they will happen. The people though need to be focussed and not worry about little shakes and shivers, they need to worry about getting things back together, building roads and houses and they seem to be rocking that effort like no one’s business.”

There have been no further aftershocks as yet.
