BIONIC EXOSKELETON WOULD ALLOW DISABLED TO WALK, TAKE OVER THE WORLD

November 2 2011

London, U.K. – Necessity, it is said, is the mother of invention. When we see problem humans, in all our cleverness, are often able to create a solution that improves or completely eradicates the situation. That is, in fact, one of the greatest attributes of our species, a compulsion which has made us what we are today.disabled person

There are, though, still problems that affect people everyday which we have simply been unable to resolve. Poverty and starvation are just two examples of situations which we have had a great deal of trouble resolving. So too have certain medical conditions which, despite all our advances in that field, have remained well outside our ability to resolve.

Now though, one advance in a particularly tricky field of medical science, spinal cord injury, may revolutionize the science and the lives of thousands of people affected by the injury. And, potentially the lives of everyone else on the planet as more and more disabled people are fitted with mechanical exoskeletons allowing the disabled to walk and to potentially become more than human.

“We are very excited by this technology and we feel that once it becomes widely available it will revolutionize the way disabled people live their lives,” said one of the developers behind the device. “This suit will give people with serious spinal injuries a new type of independence and allow them to function in a society built for the mobile. We feel this is revolutionary advance in the field.”exoskeleton suit

The battery-operated suit will allow the disabled to walk by powering their legs. The early versions of the suit do come with a limited battery life and no weapons of any sort, but advances will likely come quickly as the suits are adopted by more and more people.

“This is a great technology and great development. The basic function of science, especially in medical science, is to improve the lives of people and this suit does exactly that. It’s not a solution to disability but it’s a new tool in to allow people to live normal lives,” said Scrape TV Medical analyst Dr. Phillip Waites. “There is always danger in these types of advances and this one is no different. Very quickly, if this does take off, the technology will improve and eventually people will be able live totally independent, which is fine for most, but the bitter people, the people possibly bent of revenge for the damage they have suffered in their lives, those people will be a real issue for non-disabled people.”

It’s not clear how many disabled people are embittered by life, but the numbers could range into the hundreds.mech

“All you really need is one mad genius, a man or woman who has been beaten down by life for a long time and has a very progressive brain and a whole lot of rage. Very quickly he could create an army of angry bionics and launch an assault on organics which would create a real problem,” continued Waites. “There are certainly more of us than there are of them which usually guarantees success but anything could happen. This is a brave new world and we are just on the verge of discovering what could be and what could happen.”

The early version of the device have a one hour battery which would need to be dramatically improved in order to affect world domination.
