DUTCH LAB WILL ONTO MUTANT KILLER FLU VIRUS FOR THE TIME BEING

December 22 2011

Amsterdam, Netherlands – The Flu. Most people think they know the flu, but they really don’t. For most people a sniffle or two and a headache is the most damage the flu can do, but history has shown that that simply isn’t the case. The flu was, and still stands, as the most potent killer throughout history, doing more damage than the plague and AIDS combined.spanish flu

For the most part, owing in part to increased sanitary conditions and antibiotics, the flu has largely been under control since the last major outbreak, the devastating Spanish Flu of 1918. There has been some flirting with the bug since, most notably in 2009 with the swine flu, but generally we have been safe. Until the Dutch got involved at least.

Earlier this month a laboratory in the Netherlands announced that they had engineered a new strain of the flu virus, one with a 60 percent mortality rate that will easily pass between humans. It is, essentially, the doomsday bug. Durable, potent, and deadly it is the virus that could end our species once and for all. Luckily for now we are safe with the lab in question vowing to keep the design a secret, known only to them, until some time in the future when they decide to unleash the disease and end our species once and for all.

“Due to the importance of the findings to the public health and research communities, the NSABB recommended that the general conclusions highlighting the novel outcome be published, but that the manuscripts not include the methodological and other details that could enable replication of the experiments by those who would seek to do harm,” a statement from the lab read in part.spanish flu virus

The virus is a modified version of the H5N1 virus, better known as the Bird Flu. The new strain would not require transmission from birds, but instead could be passed from person to person making it far more deadly and potent.

“It’s a good thing and bad thing that the lab is keeping the formula to this a secret. On one hand, it’s good that bad people, whether terrorists or rogue governments, won’t have access to the virus but on the other, keeping things secret can also be dangerous. Paranoia and skulduggery can lead to a perverted mental state eventually,” said Scrape TV Science analyst Dr. Howard Poe. “These people, the ones who do have access, could eventually spend so much time keeping things a secret that rationality could eventually start to break down and they would start to act out, get aggressive, which is exactly the last thing you want when they have access to the deadly killer virus.”

Thus far, the lab has said that the virus was designed for peaceful purposes, but the Dutch have never really given the world a reason to trust them in the past.goldmember

“There is always the possibility that the virus could leak out of the lab. It is only a University lab, not a robust government facility, and that would certainly be bad but the bigger threat would be the aggressive use of the virus, perhaps out of some misguided attempt at world domination,” continued Poe. “Just because these people are scientist it doesn’t mean that they are better than all the bad people in the world. History is replete with mad scientists, well fiction is, but there have been some in history as well. If just one of these people with access is one of those mad scientists the world is doomed, now and forever, and that would not be a good thing.”

Aside from mass death from the flu directly, rioting, famine, and other diseases would kill off millions more, leaving only a handful of struggling survivors.
