EVEN WITH SEVEN BILLION PEOPLE WE MAY RUN OUT SOON
October 31 2011
San Antonio, TX - Sometime on Monday, somewhere in the world, the seven billionth human being was born. That person, most people assume, was a boy in India or China. That massive number, which puts more people living on the planet today than in the entire history of humanity combined prior to the 20th century, is a milestone being both celebrated and criticized.
While it is certainly a tribute to the power of the human animal and our dominance of the planet, it is also a potential forbearer of doom. As our population grows in numbers and sophistication, so too does our reliance on the scant resources on the planet, which in turn could create a lot of problems for a lot of people.
Already though, despite that growth, a new trend has emerged in many countries indicating that a reversal trend is already occurring which may, despite our high numbers now, may reduce us to an unsustainable low in the very near future, meaning doom for the human species no matter which way we go.
“Once your fertility rates drops below two, it is very very hard to get it to go back up

again. We now have 75 countries in the world where the fertility rate is below two,” said Dudley Poston of Texas A&M University. “Japan is losing more people today than they're gaining. South Korea has an alarmingly low fertility rate, 1.1.”
The human population is growing at about one percent a year, half of what it was during the 1960’s.
A number of factors including contraception, costs of raising children, and working women are all considered factors in the decline.
“We have been growing very, very fast in the world and now we're starting to slow down. That is going to be the issue in the future. We are going to have to start thinking for the first time in human history about fewer,” continued Poston.
Amongst other recommendations, experts recommend people having a lot more sex. Sex produces babies which eventually grown into adults.
“There was, for awhile, a nightmare scenario where population explosions would happen and we would run out of resources such as water and food. That really hasn’t happened, partially because of new methods of farming and the declining birth rate but now we are facing the opposite problem, especially in western countries,” said Scrape TV Science analyst Dr. Howard Poe. “We are reaching a point where the quality of births is declining. Yes, the gross number is increasing but the quality and value of those births is not as high as it once was and once that percentage of high value births erodes we will see a decline of valuable production and dollars. The numbers overall may stay high, but the quality will drop and that could bring about the end of species so people really need to be making more babies, like asap.”
Experts recommend a lot more nookie, at least in the western world.
